Mission Houston Prayer Targets
Jan 2009
We are asking God for nothing less than the spiritual and social transformation and revitalization of greater Houston - each person, neighborhood, and community.
We are asking to see His influence established and expanding in and through every facet of every community of greater Houston.
We are asking for a unified church that together employs spiritual and human resources together to change greater Houston for good.
Faithwalking - courses designed to create a community of transformational leaders:
· Faithwalking 101 Retreats take place 4 times per year. The next Retreat is Jan 23rd to Jan 25th, 2009. Pray for leaders, facilitators and participants to be led by God on a journey into personal transformation that results in community transformation. Pray for unity and revelation during the retreat.
· Faithwalking Vision Communities. Each Faithwalking "graduate" is asked to launch a Vision Community in their neighborhood, workplace or "3rd Place." Pray for protection, guidance, maturing and multiplying of these communities where the Body of Christ is connected and mobilizes in serving those in need.
· Faithwalking Congregations Project. Pray for discernment in selecting the right congregations as we launch a pilot project later in 2009: pastors and leaders from up to 5 congregations in key CSAs to participate in a Faithwalking 101 Retreat together.
The Whole & Healthy Children initiative - a 10 year commitment to bring transformation to the public schools of greater Houston:
· Existing Mentoring Programs in elementary schools across the city. Pray for mentors, mentees and their families, the staff and support teams in schools and in the CSAs as these programs develop and grow. Pray for protection, wisdom and a clear reflection of Christ love in all interactions so they may be used by God to establish His Kingdom in lives and in the city. Pray for more CSAs and schools to implement programs to be implemented.
· Transformational Mentor Training is a series of 4 training Modules per school year for mentors. The next Module is being offered on Jan 31 and Feb 7.. Pray for the presenter and the participants. Pray this training will be an instrument in God's hands to deepen the impact of the mentors in the lives of the mentees and broaden their positive influence in the schools.
· W&HC Program Coordinator. Pray for guidance in the selection of the right person to fill this newly created position on the MH staff. Pray for applicants and for the MH Executive Director and staff as God directs the process of selection.
Community Service Area (CSA) Teams:
· Existing CSA Teams. Pray for protection, wisdom and leadership of the Holy Spirit in existing CSA Teams; pray for the right volunteers to fill the empty spaces adding capacity. Pray for unity and clear vision among each team, and integrity in fulfilling that vision.
· New CSA Teams. Pray for emerging groups of servant-leaders from the breadth and diversity of the Body of Christ across the city called to be instruments of transformation through the Church for their neighborhoods, community and our city. Pray for divine appointments and alignment to connect them with other teams and with Mission Houston.
· Unity and mutual service. Pray for unity of mind and heart among CSA teams, between CSA teams and with Mission Houston Staff. Pray for a shared vision, mutual submission and alignment of intentions. Pray that Mission Houston would develop clear and tangible resources to serve all CSA teams.
Mission Houston Staff needs:
· Spiritual and financial provision. Pray that God will provide all that is needed to fulfill the vision, as much for the spiritual clarity, guidance and strength in every day tasks as for the financial provision required to fulfill the mission.
· Clear communication of Mission. Pray God will enable creativity and opportunity to communicate with clarity, humility and boldness the portion of His vision given to Mission Houston for our city. Pray Mission Houston will use new, innovative and increasingly effective ways to communicate this to the Body of Christ in Houston.
· Leadership of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit on Mission Houston's Board and staff, and on new partnerships, projects and relationships as they develop. Pray for wisdom to faithfully steward what has been initiated already. Pray for integrity in the Mission Houston staff in all relationships and endeavors.
