We are thankful...
What a year!
As we look back on this year of 2008 we see many reasons to be thankful: for protection in the midst of storm, for life and family and friends, for purpose and love and provision, for peace that passes understanding and hope and joy, for fun, wisdom, dreams, and for YOU. Most of all, because there is One who made possible everything else ... Jesus Christ, the hope of the city!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa 9,6)

A word from our Executive Director...
We are committed to "do-overs!"
I want to share some stories with you. But first, a couple of thoughts. As this year of 2008 draws to a close, amidst the uncertainty of the
economy and global conflicts and the mixed optimism attending a new
presidential administration, our Hope is certain. God is and will be at
work! And with your help, Mission Houston gets to join Him as He offers
do-overs to disciples eager to live into His transformative power and
purposes, to elementary school students and staff, and to His Church in
every community.
In our recent letter to supporters (which I
hope you received and read) we shared of an opportunity you have to
double the amount of your gifts that come to us before January 1.

A Faithwalking Story...
A Vision Community.
Todd and Denise McCombs are long-time followers of Jesus and deeply involved in Faithwalking. Denise has a seminary degree and both she and Todd have had significant leadership positions in congregations and ministries over their adult lifetime. Todd has completed all of the Faithwalking curriculum and is in an ongoing coaching relationship with one of the Faithwalking coaches. Denise is currently completing the Faithwalking seminar series. Recently, we caught up with the McCombs. They live in Missouri City and are working together on a vision community that is serving the poorest of the poor in Fort Bend County.
A vision community is a small group of people who are on mission together, living transparent lives of love for each other and service to the world. The primary measure of success for Faithwalking is the establishment of functioning vision communities that are intentionally advancing the Kingdom of God in the home, neighborhood, and workplace.
