HEARTS for HAITI...Celebrities
and artists galore line up for Haiti in St. John's!
A
weekend of great entertainment for music lovers, dance lovers, artists and
children await your arrival...all to help people of Haiti who are suffering
through one of the worst disasters on record. Hearts for Haiti NL kicks off at
4:00 in the afternoon with an incredible lineup of musicians. Just ask your
boss to let you off work early....just for the cause. One hour off work early is
not too much to ask in the face of such devastation.
The Hearts for Haiti NL Fundraiser is a 5-Day event at the
Masonic Temple featuring Newfoundland and Labrador's Visual, Literary and
Performing Artists of all genres and influences. Just a quick update...our first two
nights were a complete success as we started our event on Wednesday with a the
film screening of Poto Mitan, a
documentary of five courageous Haitian women workers followed by a discussion
group moderated by Angela Antle, host of CBC weekend arts. Dr. Robert Walley
joined us and talked about his time in Haiti last week and the devastation he
experienced. Thursday night was a sold out dinner show with the Spirit of
Newfoundland Productions "Stucco in the 80's."
As
the contributing artists, committee members and volunteers do their part for
this cause, we are encouraging you to do yours by attending these magnificient
events. There will appetizers and snacks available for purchase from the Masonic
Temple kitchen throughout the events. |
