Greetings!

Greetings!
School may be right around the corner, but summer seems to have no plans to let go.  We bid a fond farewell to our summer interns, known as our Honest Road Warriors. This year, we had a record-breaking 45 interns joining the tea-m for the summer (which is more people than we had in our entire company in 2006)!  Our Road Warriors worked tirelessly pouring samples, setting up demos, attending events, working crew drives and selling cases! As the summer comes to an end and the Road Warriors head back to their respective colleges and universities, we hope they take with them the passion and spirit they had all summer long and, of course, drink a lot of Honest Tea next semester! We'll miss their energy and enthusiasm!

Road Warrior Stats:
Hours worked: 13,380
Samples poured: 399,260
Bottles sold at demos: 27,800
Demos completed: 336
Events: 475
Crew drives: 20
Cases sold on crew drives: 5,825
Bottles of Honest Tea consumed: Millions!

Honest Tea

Honestly Yours,
Seth & Barry

HONEST CITY SOCIAL EXPERIMENT

Honest Tea took to the streets to test the honesty of residents in six major US cities, with an unmanned pop-up store stocked with Honest Tea and payment on the honor system.  From New York City to Boston, DC and Atlanta, to Chicago, LA and San Francisco, temporary Honest Stores pleased, confounded and tested the citizens of those great cities. Hidden cameras caught their reactions, and whether they walked away with a bottle for a dollar, and in some cases, a bottle for free.

"We weren't sure what kind of results we'd see, but we were refreshingly surprised to see how honest we are as a society. In some cities, 9 out of 10 people paid for their drinks. Some didn't do quite as well, but the overall results have been very encouraging," said Seth Goldman, TeaEO of Honest Tea.

WELCOME PASSION FRUIT GREEN TEA WITH MAQUI BERRY

... to the Honest family! (Now say that five times fast!)

Introducing the first organic bottled tea naturally sweetened with organic stevia extract, a leafy plant native to South America that is sweeter than sugar, but does not contain any calories.  We infused antioxidant-rich green tea with a splash of tangy passion fruit and exotic maqui berries to create a light, uplifting brew. We tea-med up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to outfit the bottles with limited-edition Komen for the Cure pink labels and caps.  Honest Tea is donating $100,000 this year to Komen to help in the fight against breast cancer. Like all of Honest Tea's green teas, Passion Fruit Green Tea is brewed with organic tea leaves and is loaded with the cancer-fighting antioxidant EGCG, epigallocatechin gallate.

The drink has 0g of sugar and 0 calories per 8-oz serving and is rolling out into stores in New York City and the mid-Atlantic this month, so keep your eyes peeled - you won't be able to miss the pink!

Shape also noted that it's Fair Trade Certified™, and contains fewer than 50 calories. The editor also highlighted the 22 percent lighter bottle. Haven't tried our healthy Half & Half? The New York Times presented a case study on Honest Tea, describing the challenges of "meshing Honest Tea's socially responsible, ecologically aware and small-company sensibility with the huge international brand of Coke." A follow up blog post was also published in the "You're the Boss" small business section, where Seth provided additional insight on the Coke deal. The Business Gazette featured Honest Tea in a recent issue, describing how we've tackled challenges like distribution and how we've grown the last twelve years as a mission-driven business. Stonyfield Farm's CE-YO Gary Hirshberg cites green and organic brands that have been inspired by Honest Tea, like Sweetgreen, a natural foods restaurant chain that has locations in the greater Washington, DC area and Happy Baby, a company selling organic baby food, among "a long list of other emerging natural products companies." DID I JUST HEAR THAT?

In our newest radio spot, Seth hit the streets to ask consumers to "find the tea" when reading our labels versus our competitor's. HONEST CONSUMER OF THE MONTH

Meet our consumer of the month for August: Jason of Buffalo, NY. Jason has always tried to keep his six-year-old son, Jayke, healthy, but up until recently felt like there was more he could be doing. Then he discovered Honest Kids on a shopping trip.

"Needless to say, my son loved it. He even demands that other food items contain no HCFC's and I love it! He takes them to school every day for lunch and he even memorized the poem on the pouch. At any given time he will recite the Honest quote, "don't worry if your reward is small and your tasks are few, the mighty oak was once a nut like you". Discovering Honest Kids gave me the push to seek out other organic food items and other healthy alternatives to foods my son enjoys. Thanks guys!"
