This month I finished my first 12-week webinar series - Happy People Win Business Tune Ups. I have been THINKING about doing a series for a long time, but for lots of reasons I didn't do it. Some were good reasons, however, the biggest two obstacles were my fears of the technology involved and my idea that webinars were boring (I have been on some horrific ones).
So my business mentor, the fabulous Ed Cox, sat down with me and we faced my fears. #1. I hired someone to do the technology part. Erin Hoffman (Optimum Productivity) is a whiz at webinars and although she is a productivity expert, let me hire her to do the scary technology part. That just left my fear of a boring webinar.
When I speak I watch my audience constantly and am fueled by their laughter, tears and head nods. With this webinars I see no one and they don't see me. It was kind of scary, what if they all were rolling eyes, checking e-mail or....sleeping?
But I tried it. And the end result? Yes, Ed, you were right, I LOVE them. They are fun and fast (1/2 an hour) and a great way for businesses to get a quick dose of learning (and I hope inspiration) without the cost of bringing me to their location. AND I can do it in my pj's. :) Hello....win/win. AND I got great feedback. Woo hoo! BTW Erin can tell if you are looking at other things on your computer, yes, she can (and no one was). So my suggestion to you this month, go for it. As Wayne Gretzky said, "You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Lighten Up
Prevention August 2011
More than 50% of the participants in a new study about depression reported a better mood and sounder sleep after just three weeks of bright light therapy. An hour of bright indoor light a day was as effective as antidepressants - and had no side effects. Best of all, moods continued to improve for weeks after treatment. |

Quotes: Confucius
Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes.
Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses.
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.
Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do.
To see what is right, and not to do it, is want of courage or of principle.
Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.

Take a half hour each day to sit quietly. You'll feel less stressed and improve your memory, according to new multi-university research. Study participants who had a daily time-out for eight weeks showed growth in the area of the brain associated with memory, empathy and sense of self-and a decrease in the region connected to anxiety. If you struggle to silence your thoughts, let Mother Nature help: Relax outside and concentrate on the sounds of chirping birds, the breeze or crashing waves.

Happy Life
It's great to have a supportive spouse, but people who look to their significant other to help them reach fitness goals are less apt to exercise than are the self-motivated, Psychological Science notes. Find a routine YOU want to do.
People with lingering regrets who reflected on the plight of those less fortunate reported better emotional and physical health, The Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin suggests.
Of two groups paid to do the same task, those who earned more also felt more pressure, The Journal of Applied Science shows. Think of your achievements not your paycheck to ease your mind.

People who walk their dogs, not only walk more, but they also fit in more bilking, jogging and other intense exercise (even when their dog is home) than pupless people do, a study from Michigan State University reports.
