GREETINGS FROM JEAN STEEL......
I made a new friend this month. She inspires me and will inspire you.
Val Ramsey is a mother of six, grandmother of eight, and has been married over 50 years. In her 50's Val became a cancer survivor, an author, had a defibrillator to regulate her heart implanted, AND didn't stop there, she became a model at age 63. Val has the most radiant smile you have ever seen, I feel happier just hanging out with her.
Val exemplifies Mark Twain's quote: "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." What I love about Val is that she inspires women to realize their dreams no matter their age.
For more on Val check out her website: Valerie Ramsey...and be inspired.
Keep smiling, |

Superfoods for Weight Loss
EGGS
Dig in to eggs, yolks and all: They won't harm your heart, but they can help you trim inches. Women on a low-calorie diet who ate an egg with toast and jelly each morning lost twice as many pounds as those who had a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories but no eggs, a study from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge reports. "Egg protein is filling, so you eat less later in the day," says David Grotto, R.D., author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life (Bantam).
Buy free range eggs.
OATS
"Oatmeal has the highest satiety ranking of any food," Grotto says. "Unlike many other carbohydrates, oats-even the instant kind-digest slowly, so they have little impact on your blood sugar." All oats are healthful, but the steel-cut and rolled varieties (which are minimally processed) have up to 5 grams of fiber per serving, making them the most filling choice. Instant oats contain 3 to 4 grams per serving.

SO....Are YOU Productive?
10 Traits of Highly Productive People
Check out the great article, my friend Sara "who helped me get rid of 19 bags of files" Caputo was interviewed for. I love what the author says that being productive does not mean you are a workhorse without a life, rather, "It's more about priorities, planning and fiercely protecting your time."
Check out this great article at:

Happiness Quotes
from the Dalai Lama
Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.
If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.
As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery... we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness. |

Normalizing Good Deeds
When you become an "expert" in something, it's easy to forget that not everyone knows what you know and even if they know it, not everyone practices it. This is probably what is called "normal human behavior."
Recently I was given a gift of a deck of cards with ideas on how to be kind, and how to change the world in doing so. As I started to look through the cards my initial impression was "How silly! Doesn't everyone already do these things?"
I realized (after talking to someone about it, honestly I didn't figure it out on my own) that what's normal and every day for me, working in this field and surrounding myself with the fabulous people I do, might not be normal for everyone. Here's an example of a few of the cards:
- Boom Boom Card #2: For one day, hold the door open for others every time you have the opportunity.
- Boom Boom Card #25: Smile and say hi to everyone you pass today.
- Boom Boom Card #7: The next time you see litter on the ground, pick it up and throw it away no matter where you are.
Doesn't everyone do these things? All the time? If you don't, try to fill each day with at least 5 Good Deeds, or Random Acts of Kindness. And if you know me and you're not already doing this, please let me know so that I can come over and we can have a little chat!!
If we all took the time to do what's right, we really could change the world.

Facebook Fan Page Contest!
Do you think that there aren't enough hours in the day? Is your to-do list out of control? Do you
waste money buying things that you know you already bought, but you just can't seem to find
them? Have you lost business because of missed deadlines due to a less than organized work space? Erin Hoffman is willing to help you out!
Erin is a professional organizer who has offered a free hour of her time to the person who best answers how they would use her to help organize their life using an hour of her time. She WILL help you organize your way to better time management...and less stress. How do you do this? "Like" our page and then write under the post what you would do with an hour of Erin's time and why you are the most worthy. Be funny, be clever, even begging and desperation is OK. The person with the most "likes" under your post wins!
Erin helped me virtually (she somehow "took over" my computer from her home) and worked with me to clean up my Outlook folders. Who knew that you don't need 1,000,000 Outlook folders and you should be able to find things in less than an hour? AMAZING!! ☺ |
