If you're looking for something to do with a surfeit of peaches, poach them! Or, check out this blog for a step-by-step, with photos, of how to can/jar peaches.

Here's a basic recipe for Poached Peaches

2 cups semisweet white or blush wine

1 cup water

1/3 cup sugar or 1/4 cup honey, or a combination 

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

strip or two of lemon and/or orange rind (use a vegetable peeler to remove rind from citrus) 

6 firm ripe peaches (unpeeled)

 

Bring first 5 ingredients to simmer in heavy medium saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar and/or honey. Remove from heat. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into syrup*. Return bean to syrup. Cover and continue simmering 5 minutes.

 

Add peaches and poach until just tender when pierced with tip of sharp knife, about 4 minutes. Transfer mixture to bowl and refrigerate until cold, at least 3 hours. Remove skins when cool enough to handle. Peaches will keep for several days refrigerated.

   

Enjoy peaches with sugar cookies on the side or on top of vanilla ice cream!

 

* After poaching, you can remove vanilla bean, dry it off and place it in a jar with sugar--to make vanilla sugar.

Omnivore (all meat choices)

Enjoy dinner Tuesday though Friday. Tasty mix and match items usually yields some lunch, too. Includes three entrées and sides, soup and salad, rolls and dessert.

Just Entrées and Sides  from $77

Enjoy generous dinners Tuesday though Thursday. Includes three entrées--most people say they have some leftover for lunch.

Items are packed cold in returnable glass containers and delivered to your home on Tuesday afternoons, in a thermal tote.

Choose meats, fish and chicken, vegetarian or vegan. Portions are generous and usually yield some lunch!

Please inquire about special dietary needs, some requests are really easy! Orders which require completely unique preparations are available for a 10% - 20% charge.
