Great Article! OK Humane TNR/Rescue Spay/Neuter Clinic Up and Running!
OK Humane's first spay/neuter clinic has opened its doors!  This clinic is for the feral cats in our Trap/Neuter/Return program, animals in our adoption program and Rescues.  In the near future, OK Humane will be opening at least one low-cost spay/neuter clinic open to the citizens of Oklahoma City.  That is in the works!  If you would like to volunteer or find out more about our clinic, let us know.  We can always use help and we are always in need of supplies (see the list in the left column).  Drop by and visit!  We'll be announcing an official open house soon.

Great Article! OK Humane to be Featured at OK Home & Garden Show

OK Humane has been chosen as the charity for the 2008 Home & Garden Show, coming to Oklahoma City January 18-20 at the Fairgrounds! We encourage you to purchase tickets from OK Humane for $9 in advance, and $3 of that will come directly back to us.

Please visit the Home & Garden Show web site for directions and more information.  We'll have a booth at the show--see you there!

Great Article! OK Humane Holds Adoption Outreaches Every Weekend!
Ear-tipped catOK Humane has cat and dog adoption outreaches on a regular schedule.  We are in the process of trying to add a few more outreaches, because the more we have, the more animals can find forever homes!  If you are interested in captaining or co-captaining an outreach, please contact us.  Feel free to stop by any outreach and hang out with us--they are a lot of fun and very rewarding to see these deserving critters get a second chance.

Each Month, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.:
First Saturday: PetSmart at Rockwell & NW Expressway
Second Saturday: Edmond PetSmart
Third Saturday: PetSmart at NW 63rd & May
Fourth Saturday: Edmond Petsmart
Fifth Saturday (if applicable) PetSmart at 63rd & May

We also like to have Adoption Outreaches at new and varying locations; if you have an idea for an outreach location, maybe at your office building or church, let us know!

Great Article! Help Us Rescue Puppies
Oklahoma Humane SocietyOK Humane is rolling out a new pilot program in partnership with the PetSmart store at Rockwell & NW Expressway. This is the first program of its kind in the nation!

The in-store cat adoption program at PetSmart has been so successful, we are initiating a puppy program there as well.  Puppies that are ready for adoption will be taken to the store in the mornings through the work week by the foster parent and be cared for by PetSmart employees through the day.  They will stay there all day and be available for adoption; the store managers will oversee the adoptions. Fosters will retrieve their puppies in the evening if they are not adopted.

OK Humane, along with PetSmart, is extremely excited about the possibilities of this program and being able to save more and more lives.  The puppies are pulled (rescued) from the Oklahoma City Shelter as quickly as possible and placed into foster homes.  This program has been extremely successful so far and we're looking to expand the program with help from you!

WE NEED FOSTERS for this program to work!!  We need two types of foster homes: ones that can take the puppies until they are ready for adoption (sometimes they come to us too young to be spayed/neutered, and need a few weeks of TLC before adoption), and homes that can take puppies that are ready to go, and get them to the store each day.  It would be helpful if those fosters lived near the Rockwell PetSmart location. If you are interested in SAVING LIVES and would like to be a puppy foster, please contact us!

Great Article! The ASPCA Raises More Than $1,000 a Month with GoodSearch...
Ear Tip cat
Why can't we?

GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue
to the charities and schools designated by its users. It's a simple and
compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it's powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers - the users and the organizations do not spend a dime!

And now Oklahoma Humane Society is registered with GoodSearch! Follow the directions on the homepage and you're off! You can even install it as the default search engine on your Google toolbar, too.

Spread the word - it's an easy way to help.
Great Article! Trash = Money for OK Humane!
One of our fantastic volunteers is working on fundraising for OK Humane through the Cash for Critters program.

With this program, we as the organization collect empty ink jet cartridges, laser printer cartridges and digital cell phones. They pay cash for the cartridges collected - up to $4 for ink jets , up to $15 for lasers and up to $5 for digital cell phone.

If you're interested in more information, please visit their web site at: http://www.cashforcritters.com/

We will be more than happy to answer any additional questions you may have. We'll have a box here at the OK Humane office where you are welcome to drop off any of the above mentioned items and please spread the word to family, friends & co-workers.

We also collect aluminum pet food cans and soda cans for recycling.  We can tell you that our volunteers feed a LOT of cat food and drink a LOT of soda, because these bags of cans add up fast and turn into cash for our operations.  Please bag up your aluminum cans and bring them by either of our office locations.  Contact us for more information.
We appreciate the incredible energy and dedication of all our volunteers, trappers and foster parents.  This organization could not accomplish anything without your talents and hard work.  Thank you for all you do.  There is so much on the horizon with OK Humane, and with your help we will be able to accomplish No-Kill in Oklahoma City. Together, we can do it!

Sincerely,

Oklahoma Humane Society
