A Message from the President
by Rita Hoch I hope everyone has had a great summer and is getting ready for wonderful Fall season. Football season is here and I wish the Sooners and Cowboys winning seasons!!
October 16th is National Feral Cat Day. This day is dedicated to the well-being of all feral cats in our country. We have teamed up with the Oklahoma Humane Society in their TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program initiative here in Oklahoma City. Since April of this year, they have trapped, spayed/neutered and released over 600 cats. PAL-OK has taken approximately 40 cats that were trapped and were not feral. All of those cats are either in our adoption program or have already been adopted. We are in collaboration with OHS to offer opportunities for the public to learn about these feral colonies and to support our efforts. Hopefully, in the next year we will see a reduction in feral cat intake at the area shelters which will result in less euthanasia. To learn more about this program, please visit Oklahoma Humane Society web site at www.OKHumane.org.

Can YOU Be a Foster Home?
These are just a few dogs who need foster homes! Cricket, a 4 year old black chihuahua, and Evie, and 4 year old chihuahua/shih tzu, were rescued from a neglect situation and need some TLC. They are friendly and appear to be housebroken.
This is a great opportunity to try fostering if you've never done it before! We'll be here to support you every step of the way. Please contact Emily if you want to find out more about fostering (these two dogs or others), or fill out our foster application and we''ll get back to you right away.

Earn FREE Money for PAL by Searching the Web!
What if PAL-OK earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can! GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Pet Assistance League of Oklahoma as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word!

What if They Spoke Our Language?
Animals communicate in
their own way. Maybe it's not Standard
English we hear in the early morning
bird songs, but it sure is some serious chatting.
But did you know that
cats-those lucky characters with the great night vision and tricky hunting
tactics-also have more than 100 vocal sounds? And dogs, barkers in protection
and play, only have perhaps 10 vocal sounds? If these animals could speak
English, don't you wonder what they'd say? Think of how much money could go to PAL-OK if supporters bought all of their pet
products at www.iGive.com/PAL-OK, where up to
26% of every purchase is donated to PAL-OK! We have already raised more than $100, and we need your help to earn more.
At iGive.com, membership is free! So hurry up and visit the Mall at iGive.com,
where you can shop at 600+ stores, including CatToys.com, PETsMART.com, Pet
Food Direct, and Petco!
