Lake View Citizens' Council/CLMA office to house 2010 Census Questionnaire Assistance Center

Census forms have been mailed and should be arriving in your mailbox shortly. This year, the Lake View Citizens' Council/Central Lakeview Merchants Association office will be housing a Census Questionnaire Assistance Center. To have any of your Census related questions answered, please stop by the office at 3355 North Clark Street between 9 a.m.-6 p.m or call Rick at 773-665-2100 for more information.

Census information affects the numbers of seats our state occupies in the U.S. House of Representatives. And people from many walks of life use census data to advocate for causes, rescue disaster victims, prevent diseases, research markets, locate pools of skilled workers and more.

An accurate count of residents can help our community. In fact, the information the census collects helps to determine how more than $400 billion dollars of federal funding each year is spent on infrastructure and services like:

Hospitals
Job training centers
Schools
Senior centers
Bridges, tunnels and other-public works projects
Emergency services

News from TRAC....
WE DID IT! (But there's more to do...)

TRAC has been working for acquisition-based assessing (ABA) as the means to truly change the way our properties are assessed. We're thrilled to announce HB5355 - the ABA law - was filed on February 4 by State Representative John Fritchey and co-sponsored by Representative Kevin Joyce. Thanks to them both for their leadership on this great idea.

WHAT DOES IT DO? Creates the ABA law and amends the property tax code for all types of properties - single-family, condominiums, apartments, commercial and industrial.

  • Limits the maximum annual increase in assessments to 2 percent a year and makes that limit permanent

  • Uses an actual sale price of a property as the new value going forward

Click here to see the bill's current status. Click here to see the full bill.

THE NEXT STEPS?

  • Bill was re-referred to the Rules Committee

Calls to action about when to apply pressure and who will need an extra push to get things passed are coming...

FORWARD THIS INFORMATION to those who want fair and predictable property taxes!

Thank you from the volunteers at TRAC for getting us this far.
