Benchmade Expands Marketing Department to Keep Pace with Growth

New Staff Additions Bring Extensive Brand Building Experience

January 6, 2009, OREGON CITY, Ore— Benchmade Knife Company is expanding their Marketing Services department in order to keep up with the demands caused by recent growth.

Jason Boyd

Jason Boyd has been hired as Product Line Manager, a new position at Benchmade. Mr. Boyd will be responsible for managing the entire Benchmade product line, assessing market and competitor activity, and will work with the Benchmade engineering team in the introduction of new product. Mr. Boyd began his career at Nike as a Sport Marketing Rep and Product Testing Manager in the apparel division. He then moved to LaCrosse Footwear where he was a Product Line Manager for the Danner Footwear and Uniform Line. Most recently, he has done project work at both adidas and Norm Thompson Outfitters. Mr. Boyd received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

Nicolle Mecha

As Benchmade’s new Graphic Designer, Nicolle Mecha will provide creative direction, develop concepts, and fulfill graphic needs for Benchmade’s marketing department. Ms. Mecha brings a wide range of expertise to Benchmade in both design and production. She most recently worked in the in-house marketing department at Columbia Sportswear developing marketing materials for the Columbia brand and their sister companies, Sorel and Montrail. Ms. Mecha has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Alicia Hunt

Finally, Alicia Hunt has been named Public Relations Coordinator. In this position, she’ll be responsible for coordinating all media communications for the Benchmade brand. Alicia attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She was also a captain of the Women’s Varsity tennis team and was active in many student organizations.

“These new additions to the marketing department will allow us to continue to expand the strong brand equity that Benchmade has established in the marketplace” says Rob Morrison, Benchmade’s Director of Marketing and Strategic Planning. “Their significant big brand experience, combined with a passion for our product, will allow us to grow in our core markets and look at additional market expansion.”
