Team members of the Wisconsin Transfer Equity Study review data.

Dear Colleague,
We at the Center for Urban Education (CUE) are committed to studying ways in which the transfer pathway from two- to four-year institutions can be improved for students of color, especially since two-year institutions represent the primary gateway to higher education for these historically underserved and underrepresented students. As an example of the impact of our work, we are sharing with you a story that was recently highlighted in USC News.
With generous funding from the Ford Foundation, the University of Wisconsin System (UWS), its University of Wisconsin Colleges, the Wisconsin Technical College System, and partner campuses collaborated with CUE to close the long-standing racial/ethnic gap in transfer and degree attainment in Wisconsin.
As a result of the study, the UWS Board of Regents' Education Committee recently approved a revised system-wide transfer policy that incorporates our recommendations, including better accountability metrics and the creation of "equity benchmarks" to track progress towards achieving parity in transfer outcomes.
