JOIN US and please bring something warm for our homeless clients such as gloves, scarves, jackets, hats, socks, etc.The fundraising event will provide all proceeds to We Care and Friend from the first tapped keg, silent auction, raffles, and corn hole tournaments. We Care and Friends, run by Larry Griffin, is the "place to go" for people who have no where else to turn for food, housing, clothing, drug treatment, family counseling, and employment in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
We Care and Friends is gathering supplies for homeless clients and preparing for Thanksgiving (Nov 21) and Holiday Toy Drive (Dec 24) at the Stanton Community Center for those individuals and families in need. Annapolis First Presbyterian Church Hosts Biblical Christian Scholars
SPEAKING CHRISTIAN - WHY CHRISTIAN WORDS HAVE LOST THEIR MEANING AND POWER AND HOW THEY CAN BE RESTORED with Diana Butler Bass, Ph.D. and Marcus J. Borg, Ph.D.
The Courtenay Wright Bass Lecture Series of First Presbyterian Church will feature the dynamic duo of Diana Butler Bass, Ph.D, author, speaker, and independent scholar specializing in American religion and culture, and Marcus J. Borg, Ph.D, internationally known academic, biblical and Jesus Scholar, and a Canon Theologian at the Portland, Oregon Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for a weekend of theological learning with a fresh look at Christian theology and spiritual growth.
The Butler Bass/Borg weekend begins with an evening lecture on Friday, November 18 and two workshops on Saturday morning. On Sunday, November 20th, Dr. Butler Bass will preach at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Worship Services in the Sanctuary with a sermon titled: "Reclaiming and Experiencing the Kingdom."
Dr. Borg will lead the 9:30 a.m. Adult Education Class (also in the Sanctuary) on the subject of "Open Hearts and Thin Places." Together, Diana Butler Bass and Marcus Borg will provide attendees at each event a very special experience.
