When The Sleeves formed back in 2008 they were just some guys looking to play fun music. Then, they realised that a song named Sex Museum would be perfectly augmented by some cross-dressing, and they've never looked back since....
But, seriously - with their hard-hitting primitivist punky-garagey rock, they're now ready to release their first album, Arcade Rock that will fuzz its way into your hindbrain and stay there...
And to their sound will be the equally rough-n-tough sound of Japan's Electric Eel Shock (as well as their scandalous off-stage activities), the jump-around sounds of Van De Kamp's explosive alternative, and the rock stylings of These Selfish Things.
It's gonna be a party from around the world in HK, so be there!

Barbara Nesbitt
Barbara Nesbitt, singer, songwriter, musician, from Austin Texas, is in Hong Kong for a CD release event at Backstage Live on December 2nd. Her new cover CD, Barbara Clare, will be released that night with backing from the 4 piece acoustic band, Akostika.
She will also sing for the first time in Hong Kong, her original songs from her highly acclaimed CD "The Bees" released in USA in February this year. On December 4th, she will also play with Akostika at Hari's Bar, Holiday Inn Golden Mile.
Barbara was the lounge act at the Intercontinental Hotel for 3 months from July - Sep 2010.

They were the winners of the Hong Kong Bud Rocks competition earlier this year. At the Beijing final, Jukator scored 8.56 out of 10, while the second runner up scored 8.60. They did however win
the best guitarist and the best bassist award
There were 23 bands from ten regions in China in the grand final.
Lets hope we have more participation with Midi Festival next year.

We are delighted to announce that we have selected 12 Hong Kong bands for the next compilation release from The Underground!
It was a long & arduous process as 30 bands applied this year but we only have slots for 12.
After a series of very difficult decisions, we have finally settled on the final dozen who will appear on our next compilation album.
Each band chosen to represent the Hong Kong indie music scene will have the chance to record 2 songs at Mark 1 Music Centre!
Compilation CD 5 will be released in two launch parties circa April 2012. Details for these events will be released closer to the event.

The Underground, Hong Kong's premier indie music showcase, took on nine of the best local innovators, entrepreneurs and programmers to win the city's first-ever Battle of the Apps contest, organized by Hong Kong's premier internet networking community, Web Wednesday.
The Underground's app - presented by founder Chris B (AKA, the godmother of Hong Kong's indie music scene) - won over the voting audience with its user-friendly graphics and entertaining content.
The iPhone-friendly program plays new music; publicizes bands and upcoming shows; presents news from The Underground; and more. The software was created by Mangrove Giant, the Hong Kong-based applications developer whose game Kill Kill Monster Campaign entered the Top 100 in 66 countries last year and sold over 100,000 copies.
The Battle of the Apps contest, which featured video and live presentations, took place at Volar on July 20th in front of more than 170 guests and members of the Internet and digital media community. Apps on display included a city food locator, a guide to buying local property, a Chinese learning tool, a location-based gaming platform, a rugby match analyzer, a photo sharing network and a smart phone function that automatically shuts down WiFi to save battery power.
