don't get caught behind
the communications curve

Issue #34 December 2009
Are you ready for 2010?

This time last year, no one really knew just how much Twitter would catch on as a communications tool in 2009--nor the challenges it would pose for speakers. We can't always anticipate what lies ahead, but I hope you'll look to the don't get caught news and info blog and The Eloquent Woman blog and consider my strategies, training and content services when you're trying to make sense of what comes next in your communications.

In this issue, a look at what's coming up from don't get caught in the new year. My best wishes to you and your team for enjoyable holidays and a great year ahead!

Sincerely,
President

New Trainings and Resources
Don't get caught without our newest offerings for communicators, speakers
What can you expect from don't get caught in 2010? More new resources and services within our three areas of communications consulting:  strategies, training and content. Here are just some of the new offerings you'll be hearing about after the start of the new year:
  • The weekly writing coach e-book: I'm compiling a year's worth of weekly tips, exercises and resources for writers--with an emphasis on writing for communications operations -- in one handy guide.  A great self-coaching resource for new or experienced writers, with expanded content beyond what you've seen on the don't get caught blog.
  • The Step Up Your Speaking workbook:  This workbook will take the program you've watched unfold with contest winner Stephanie Benoit, and make it work for you with expanded content and resources.  The workbook will cover a 15-week program you can follow at your own pace, with special exercises for beginning speakers and rev-up tasks for those who want to sharpen existing speaking skills. You'll get to focus on improving three speaking skills of your choice, and get help with the most common speaking challenges.
  • Speaking seminars for senior women executives:  The Eloquent Woman will launch special day-long seminars for senior women executives to help them hone their speaking skills, address speaker issues they're facing, and create an effective executive presence as a speaker.  With a limit of 10 participants, you'll have the chance to interact, learn and network with other women at your level.

Tools and Technology for Speakers, Communicators
Want to end the year by encouraging or rewarding a communicator or speaker--maybe yourself? Check out our list of recordings, books, technology and other helps if you're gifting a speaker this holiday season.  The Eloquent Woman has included on this list special resources that range from creativity when planning sermons to a paperless tool for the paper-shuffling speaker, and resources for women on speaking up in meetings.

For communicators, I came up with a  "utility belt" of technology, software video recorders and other tools that make my communications work smoothly--all products and services I'd recommend to make your work easier. With many free resources, it's a great way to get started--or to up your game.
