Issue #19 June 2008
Greetings!

Blogging for Your Business WorkshopsYou're looking at two of the newest -- and smallest -- tools we use to help clients improve media interview and  speaking skills.  I've reviewed the Flip video camera, a palm-sized system you could mistake for my phone. Recording devices of this size have caught more than one public figure by surprise! At right is Amazon's Kindle e-book reader, to which you can email your speech text, adjust the type size, and read it aloud--no more shuffling papers.  We're using both tools in our trainings to keep you up-to-speed (and down to size) with today's latest technology.  Email me at info@dontgetcaught.biz to learn how we can bring your training into the 21st century!

Want to stay up-to-speed with my speaking schedule? Please register for two sessions being held next week: On June 17, the publisher of American Speaker hosts me in an audioconference that will help you "Inject Some Life in Your Next Speech."  And on June 19, I'll join a panel on "Pitching to Bloggers" for the Public Relations Society of America's National Capital Chapter here in Washington. Please join me!

Sincerely,
President
Media Relations Makeover: Get Moving
Mobile Technology Reshapes Field. Are You Ready?
Blogging for Your Business WorkshopsCan't find print reporters at their desks? That's because they've gone 'mojo' (short for 'mobile journalist'), using devices like those shown above, and more, to record audio and video while filing stories from their cars, coffeehouses or the scene of an incident. What's new for you: The technology and how it should reshape your media relations. From how you post online resources to training for your spokesfolks, mobile technology takes a different style of media relations--handily, one that works well for bloggers as well as mainstream reporters.  We offer group sessions for your media team to anticipate--and create--solutions that will get you moving in ways that keep up with reporters.

Your Next Speech: Take Charge of Your Intro
Tips and Techniques from The Eloquent Woman Blog
  Blogging for Your Business Workshops
"Getting started" is one of the most-often-cited problems we hear from our speaker trainees. And while your first words are important, the ones heard right before them--your introduction--set the tone for your presentation.  We encourage trainees to take the introduction into their own hands, by preparing a suite of options for your introducers to use, or by incorporating introductory notes into your own early remarks.  Check out our guidelines for how to write a good intro, and what you, as a speaker, should do to ensure a smooth transition to your opening lines.
