Issue: # 11 October 2007
Greetings!

Our fall is filling with meetings and speeches--I'm attending the Communications Network in Philanthropy meeting this month, speaking on using blogs and social media at Maryland Nonprofits' annual meeting in November, and planning a spring workshop to "Take Your Speech from Good to Great" for the Executive Women's Forum in Virginia.

We're also helping clients prepare for 2008 with retreats, coaching and training, message development and communications planning.  Check out the links at left for more information! We welcome your inquiries and referrals.

Sincerely,
Denise Graveline
President
NEW: FOR COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORS
Policies, Trends and Updates You Need
This month on the don't get caught blog, we've added a new tag, titled "for communications directors."  Click it to quickly search for all of our blog items about CEO and leadership communications, policy issues, press credentials, and major trends you should be considering.  In September, such items included crisis message development suitable for texting...the first FCC fine for use of a video news release...arguments for and against using social media like Facebook to promote your organization...new issues raised by "live bloggers" at your meetings, and whether you should credential them...and, for new communications directors, how to establish relationships with reporters.

We offer coaching for communications directors, whether seasoned or new, based on our extensive experience directing communications for large organizations. One-on-one coaching allows you to get the professional development you need, customized to your specific issues and situations. For more information contact us at info@dontgetcaught.biz.

Weekly Writing Coach Keeps You Up-to-date
This month, our "weekly writing coach" feature on the blog scanned reference works, research, and reports to help your writing team stay up to speed with changes in how we use hyphens, new ways to cite electronic media sources, better ways to describe gigantic numbers or measures and more.  We offer in-person writing coaching for groups and individuals, and you can look here for advice on hiring a coach.
