A New Way Of Being The Church
|
November 1, 2009
|
Greetings!
Do you have friends who are looking for a
faith community that is devoted to reaching
out? Finding meaning in life? Finding purpose?
Do you know people who are looking to
transform our community, our country and the
world? To make a difference? To be part of
something bigger than themselves?
Then you can help them find just what they
have been looking for: The University Church!
You can forward this newsletter to your
friends using the link at the bottom of the
page or, better yet, you can bring them to
one of our worship
gatherings, outreach
events or educational
activities. You know that you will be
welcome.
We are excited about the life and work of The
University Church and hope that you are too -
excited enough about our vision
and mission to share your enthusiasm with
your friends.
We look forward to seeing you and your
friends soon.
Grace and peace,
Julian A. Davies, Founding Pastor

Feeling a little off balance?
We've been thinking about the question of
balance lately and how easy it is to let life
get out of balance - sometimes it seems to
happen when we're least expecting it! Join
us for the next three Sundays as we complete
our series on balance:
- November 1st - Balance: Preserving and
Utilizing
- November 8th - Balance - Home and Away
- November 15th - Balance - Past, Present
and Future
For earlier sermons in this series, visit our
Worship
and Sermon Center on-line.
Join us for worship on Sunday evenings at
6:00 p.m. at The Driscoll Alumni Center at
the corner of Bancroft Street and University
Hills Boulevard in Toledo. Parking is
immediately adjacent to the building, which
is an accessible facility. Everyone is welcome.
Come before worship to enjoy fair-trade
tea, coffee and cocoa, and then stay after
worship
as the community gathers for our weekly
"Afterglow" to continue the conversation at a
local restaurant.

Family Promise
|
|
Helping families get a new start
The University Church is working in
partnership with Family Promise of Greater
Toledo to assist families experiencing
homelessness in our community.
Family Promise of Greater Toledo (Formerly
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Metro
Toledo) is a comprehensive program for
families experiencing homelessness that
brings together faith-based groups
to help build a support system for these
families. Not only does Family Promise fill
the basic human needs and provide this
support network, but it offers the next step
- an opportunity to develop critical skills
and direction for families to help them move
out of homelessness permanently.
Homelessness is more than being "houseless."
It represents a profound loss of family,
friends, and the support system that connects
most of us to a stable life. The need is
great, but the fruit will be as well.
The University Church provides dinner hosts,
overnight hosts, and meals while other
churches provide the facilities. We have been
part of two hosting experiences already and
have a third, week-long session planned for
next month.
You can learn more about Family Promise at
their web
site. To participate in this
ministry opportunity and make a difference in
some people's lives, please contact The
University
Church office at (419) 534-3080 or by e-mail.

Electronic Giving
|
|
Share the resources that God has entrusted to you
Our church has embraced options for
supporting our ministries that may offer more
convenience for many people in our community
- electronic giving.
One option works in much the same manner as
mortgages, loan payments, or insurance
premiums that are automatically withdrawn
from your checking or savings account. You
can also set up electronic giving with a
credit card. To arrange for your donations to
be transferred
electronically to the church account on a
regular basis, simply visit the secure server
here
and sign up.
Alternatively, you can complete the form
found in our "Electronic Giving" brochure
which is available from the church office, on
our information table on Sundays, or for
download as a pdf file here.
You choose the
donation frequency and the donation amount
for each fund you wish to support.
Another option is to support the church
through a donation from your Paypal account
to the church PayPal account. To get started,
