FDA Issues Nationwide Alert on Counterfeit One Touch Basic/Profile and One Touch Ultra Blood Glucose Test Strips

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today is
alerting their Counterfeit Alert Network partners to
counterfeit OneTouch Brand Diabetes Test Strips.
The products are OneTouch Ultra(1) and OneTouch(2)
(Basic/Profile) Test Strips. The
product is used
by people with diabetes to measure their blood glucose
Product/Manufacturer: LifeScan Inc., Milpitas, CA
The counterfeit product and packaging mimic
genuine LifeScan OneTouch Brand Test Strips intended
for distribution outside the United States. The
outer cartons of the recently discovered counterfeit
test strips in the US have the following
characteristics:
Counterfeit OneTouch (Basic/Profile) Test Strips
Multiple Languages—English, Greek and Portuguese
text on the outer carton
Lot Numbers 272894A, 2619932 or 2606340
Limited to 50-Count OneTouch (Basic/Profile)
Test Strip packages
Counterfeit OneTouch Ultra Test Strips
Multiple Languages—English and French text on the
outer carton
Lot Number 2691191
Limited to 50-Count OneTouch Ultra Test Strip
packages
How to respond/dispose:
Check your inventory of 50-Count OneTouch
Ultra
and OneTouch (Basic/Profile)
Test Strips. If you
discover any multi-language packages with the
characteristics listed, they are potentially
counterfeit.
If you identify counterfeit product based on the
characteristics listed in this alert, please report
your discovery immediately to LifeScan by calling
1-866-247-0264. Your report will aid regulatory and
law enforcement agencies in their ongoing
investigation into the sources of these counterfeit
products.
