Francine Carb fcarb@markitects.com, President & CEO, Markitects, Inc., was elected to the Board of Colonial American Bank, concurrent with the takeover of the bank by a new investor group approved by the CDFI Fund. Francine will be chairing the Marketing & Franchise Committee.
JoAnne Fischer jfischer@momobile.org, Executive Director of Maternity Care Coalition, was elected chair of the Board of Directors of National Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition, Washington DC. HMHB Coalition is a partner with the White House Office of Science and Technology, Johnson & Johnson and Voxiva in text4baby, a free mobile text messaging service for pregnant women and parents of infants to age one.
Abbe Fletman abbe.fletman@flastergreenberg.com, Shareholder, Head of Intellectual Property Litigation and Co-chair Government Relations Group, was appointed co-chair of the 2011 campaign efforts for The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women crusade in southeastern Pennsylvania. Funds raised from the drive will help support local and national "Go Red" activities, which elevate awareness and promote research, education and community programs that benefit women.

Debra Malinics debra@dma-adv.com, owner of Debra Malinics Advertising, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Philadelphia Workforce Development, a regional workforce development agency. The organization is involved in a broad spectrum of employment services to train and prepare the city's workforce to meet the needs of employers as well as assist job seekers with career moves to reposition and build their skills to meet market demands.
Afaf A. Meleis meleis@nursing.upenn.edu, Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, was appointed a member of the George W. Bush Institute's Women's Initiative Policy Advisory Council. She was also appointed by President Amy Gutmann to be her academic partner for the 5th UN Global Colloquium hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The theme was "Empowering Women to Change the World: What the UN and Universities Can Do."

She alsoreceived the Community Advocate Award from Lambda Legal Philadelphia, for her history of LGBT advocacy, including as a cooperating lawyer with Lambda Legal; her work in establishing an LGBT Litigator Committee within the American Bar Association's 75,000 membership base; and as a co-chair of the Mayor's Advisory Board on LGBT Concerns

The wall is named "Faces that Shape Us."
Peggy McCausland mccausland@mccauslandlaw.com, Principal, McCausland & McCausland LLC, received the Angel award from Robins' Nest Inc, a private, nonprofit children's services agency that helped 9,000 children last year. Its most prestigious award, The Angel award, was given to Peggy at the completion of her three-year term as Board President and in recognition of her 15 years of Board service.

The project is targeting LEED silver certification and completes the final phase of a 15-year masterplan. It is one of the few university cinemas in the nation to receive the prestigious THX certification of acoustic, sound system and picture presentation performance.

Daniela Holt Voith dhv@vma1.com , Principal, Voith & Mactavish Architects, was recently featured on the International Interior Design Association's professional blog and served as moderator for the discussion, "Housing in Times of Crises" at Bryn Mawr College. Her project, Joe's Cafe, the first LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors project at The Wharton School, was also completed and has been widely published.

Lynn H. Yeakel lynn.yeakel@drexelmed.edu, Director, Institute for Women's Health and Leadership, Drexel University College of Medicine, spoke at the Cosmopolitan Club of Philadelphia in May. Her talk, "Don't Let History Happen Without You!," was about the Vision 2020 project and her recently published book, "A Will and A Way." She was also a panelist at the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) Annual Conference. The subject of the panel was "Elected Office: An Avenue for Community Leadership."
