Inflammation Key to the Heart Disease / Obesity Link
Dr GravelineA recent study mimicked the release of fatty acid by fat cells and revealed the surprising release of highly thrombogenic proteins - another indication of the direct effect of excess weight on cardiovascular risk.

The role of NF-kB in immunity and inflammation has been well known, but its effect on metabolic diseases had not been studied before.

It appears to be at this point where obesity tilts the scales precipitously, converting the relatively mild, early insulin resistance of common metabolic syndrome to serious cardiovascular disease.

Dolichols, Personality Change and Statins
Insufficient dolichols result in altered glycoproteins. Our hormones of emotion, commonly known as neuropeptides, are just one small part of what glycoproteins do. They also are vital for cell identification, messaging and immunodefense.

Another relevant role is the importance of a particular class of glycoproteins known as glycohydrolases.  A specific one of these is required for every mitochondrial DNA error correction required and thousands of these occur and must be corrected daily.
