Celtic Roots Band MacTalla Mor Rocks Round Hill!
The pipes will be calling at Cranbury Park in Norwalk Connecticut when the international Celtic roots sensation MacTalla Mor performs at the at The 88th Annual Round Hill Highland Games Saturday July 2nd at 1:30 p.m.
MacTalla Mor features champion great highland bagpipes and Gaelic singing, in a high energy mix of traditional Celtic, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, Latin, hip-hop and Mor. The band, which is made up entirely of members of the Devlin-Ofgang family has performed at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, in Montreal, Canada and at Grandfather Mountain Highland games in North Carolina and played for ESPN, NBC, and ABC TV. Fans of this revolutionary Celtic super group range from age 1 to 100 and include legendary musicians Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and Jose Feliciano.
In 2009 MacTalla Mor's haunting rendition of The Mist Covered Mountains was named Celtic Radio Song of the year in the roots traditional category. This year the band kicked off its east coast U.S. tour in April with a special performance for Alex Fergusson the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament at British Memorial Gardens in New York City
The band formed 7 years ago when members of the Devlin-Ofgang family decided to combine their musical talents into one never-before-heard style. Brothers Jesse and Levon Ofgang play bagpipes, drums and guitar, their mother Patty Devlin, plays the bodhran (a traditional Irish drum) their brother Erik Ofgang plays the bass and is a professional magician who does magic during the shows. Added to the mix is riveting organ, piano playing and haunting vocals. Fans need look no further than the band's slogan, "The Pipes Are Calling Resistance is Futile."
