The State of Connecticut has honored Celtic Roots sensation MacTalla Mor Band with an official citation from the Connecticut Senate recognizing the band's achievements in Celtic Music. The citation, introduced by Senator Michael McLachlan, 24th district, congratulates MacTalla Mor for their "outstanding achievement" being awarded the prestigious Celtic Radio music award in the roots and traditional category.
The citation was presented to MacTalla Mor by McLachlan at the 86th annual Round Hill Highland Games in Norwalk. Members of the all family band were thrilled with the award. "It's a great honor. Our sincerest thanks to Senator McLachlan the Connecticut General Assembly and of course all our great fans," said Erik Ofgang, 23, MacTalla Mor's bassist and author of many of the band's original songs. |
| Featuring The Great Highland Bagpipes and Gaelic singing, MacTalla Mor plays a dynamic mix of traditional Celtic, rock, blues, reggae, jazz and even hip hop. The band consists of members of the Devlin-Ofgang family. Jesse on bagpipes, drums, whistle and guitar, his brother Levon on bagpipes and whistles, their sister Ilana on vocals, piano and organ, their mother Patty on Bodhran, a traditional Celtic drum, and brother MageErik on Bass and vocals. MacTalla Mor regularly tours across North America and has played at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas at Pete Seeger's Clearwater Festival and for ABC, NBC and CBS TV. Thanks to grants provided by The National Endowment for the Arts and the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism they will be playing several free concerts throughout Connecticut.
