HELLO, AND HAPPY SUMMER DAYS! Thanks for reading. Our Annual "Summer Celebration of Life" yesterday here in my garden in Santa Rosa, CA, was quite magical. We started the morning with a vision walk, and many people brought back stories of spirit's language powerful messages for them (including mine). After sharing and lunch we created the most dazzling despacho, overflowing with special gifts, lots of colorful confetti, and everyone's three rose petals blessed with our intentions and desires. Francis Rico sang James Nihan's song, "Three Petals," written after a Summer Celebration a few years ago. You can here the beautiful song and see a despacho here. All that energy made us hungry, so we enjoyed a fabulous BBQ dinner with all the fixings, summer pies, and more. After dinner, we lit the big fire and burned the despacho, "dispatching" our dreams to Spirit. Our drumming and dancing around the fire took us to the end of a beautiful and empowering day and evening together-- in community, in love, celebrating Life. I am incredibly grateful for the wild and wise teaching of Francis Rico, the tireless help from Bobbie Bloom, Vanita, and Lynn the Joydancer Office Angel, and everyone who made the event so perfect-- and all who came to enjoy and transform. THIS WEEK'S TOPIC, SUNDAY August 12th, 7:00 pm pacific time: The Power of the Four Agreements for Creating Conscious Relationships This Week: #2: Don't take anything personally People often tell me that this second of Miguel Ruiz' Four Agreements is the hardest one to keep. And that is not surprising. We are taught from an early age that the things we do create the emotional reactions in our parents and others-- and what they do creates our emotional reactions. It is a basic belief in what the Toltecs call "the dream of the planet" -- the collective agreements in the human mind. We believe it is all personal. What if this wasn't true? - What if people could never create our emotional reactions?
- What if we are all absolutely responsible for our emotional lives, and are never the emotional victims of other people, events, or institutions?
- What if the things people say and do to us have nothing to do with us or our worth or value?
If we learn to understand we've been believing a lie since childhood, if we can see the truth and change our belief systems about people causing our emotional reactions, we can be free. We will never take anything personally. Think about these: - If everyone has a different emotional reaction to the same event, how could the event be causing it?
- If your emotional reaction to a person changes based on your health or mood in the moment, how can you say the other person made you feel a certain way?
- If your feelings can be hurt by someone who isn't present, or even someone who has died, how can you say they are doing it to you?
It turns out, when we look at the truth, nobody can cause your emotional reactions, nor can you cause someone else's. IT IS NOT PERSONAL. IN FACT, THE UNIVERSE IS NOT PERSONAL!
