Hello!
I'M HAPPY TO SEE YOU HERE ONCE AGAIN! This week I'm thinking about Monogamy! I wrote something about it below, and I look forward to sharing with you about it Sunday evening on my weekly radio show on the HumanSpirit Radio Network. Send me your thoughts!!On a personal note....I left my winter home in Chacala, Nayarit, Mexico and drove "home" to Santa Rosa, CA, last week. My home and gardens here are a treat, and I'm glad to be home (sort of).

THE WEEKLY WORD AND RADIO SHOW TOPIC:
"Monogamy" On the radio show we've laid the foundation for conscious relationships, and now we're in a series of shows on "Relationship Issues." Our most recent conversation was about "Emotional Intimacy" and how it must begin with ourselves, connecting with our own emotional body, and being willing to honor and share the truth of us arising in our feelings. This week, the 29th: MONOGAMY! The Joydancer Weekly Word:
"Relationship Issues: Monogamy"
Of all the agreements people make in romantic relationships, monogamy is probably the one most based on assumptions, the most vague, and the one that causes the most relationship problems.
* What IS monogamy!? * How you do you define it in your relationship? * If you're not in a relationship, how would you want to define it? * What are the limits and parameters of your monogamy? * Have you discussed the details with your partner? * If so, tell us about it...if not, why not?

My dictionary defines monogamy as "the practice of having one sexual partner." With synonyms like commitment, exclusivity, and fidelity. That's all fine, and from the discussions I've had on the subject, that is what people assume and expect when they agree to monogamy.
BUT, what are the definitions of "sexual?" for instance. Does it mean flirting, touching, touching where and for how long? Sexuality without intercourse? Intercourse without emotions? Emotions without intercourse? Anything is okay but the real deal? Nothing is okay with another person? Don't tell and it didn't happen?
The monogamy agreement is unique to every individual and in every relationship, and needs to be a conscious sub-set of agreements between partners in order for us to create and nurture conscious relationships.
And what about emotional monogamy? I know of couples that consider their emotional connection more important and sacred than the exclusive rights to their partner's body parts. What concerns you most-- the emotional energy or the sexual energy? None or all?
