Foreman Family Business!

For Doņa and Andy Foreman and their son Stephen and daughter Rachel, "there's no business like show business" and it all revolves around Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District's S.T.A.G.E. Troupe, the District's teen drama group.

For 13 years this dynamic team has put on over 30 productions with the help of Behind the Scenes, a parent and volunteer organization that partners with the District to support, produce, and make the magic happen for the teen group.

Doņa Foreman of STAGE Troupe from Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park DistrictSince 1998, Doņa has been the director and driving force behind S.T.A.G.E. Troupe. This summer, she will be teaching STAGE - Repertory Summer Drama Workshop. Doņa is looking forward to this second year of STAGE Rep. "It was designed for the serious drama student," she said, noting that students will be required to audition before they're accepted.

She is looking for teens 12-18 years old, who can memorize their parts at home, and come to the twice-weekly, 4-hour workshops focused and ready to perfect their acting technique.  Auditions for STAGE - Repertory Summer Drama Workshop are scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 10:30 am-2 pm, at the Winslow Center, 2590 Pleasant Hill Road, Pleasant Hill. For more information, call 682-0896.

"This will be quite different from acting in a musical," she said. "STAGE Rep will include one-on-one coaching to develop diction, poise, character development, and the skills necessary to create diverse rich characters."

Andy Foreman, STAGE Troupe
Andy Foreman is a master at designing and building the sets, as well as designing the lighting and sound for all of S.T.A.G.E. Troupe's productions. He is the Lighting and Sound Manager for the Troupe. In addition, he runs a crew of approximately 12 "techies' for each show with five to seven who "run the show" managing lights, sound, and behind the scenes tasks. "It's a huge organizational job and he and his team make everything appear just like magic," said Doņa.

Stephen ForemanStephen Foreman has been teaching music and drama since he was in junior high school. He has worked as director, choreographer, and conductor, and now brings his unique talent for music to STAGE as Resident Musical Director. As an accomplished performer in his own right, Stephen's enthusiasm for the arts and dedication to excellence drives the teens to dream beyond what they believe is possible.

Rachel ForemanRachel Foreman has performed with S.T.A.G.E. Troupe as Holly in North Pole Revue, and in various lead roles in numerous other shows. Until recently, she was the Troupe's resident make up artist, specializing in old-age and animal make up. She recently took a job with the YMCA in Granby, Colorado teaching arts and crafts.

But it doesn't end with S.T.A.G.E. Troupe! Doņa and Stephen will again join the summer staff at Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District's Recreation Summer School. After 13 summers, Doņa will be teaching Drama. Stephen will be teaching Musical Theatre.

Recreation Summer School, June 21 through July 28, is a very affordable program offering six weeks of summer fun for grades 1-8 and will be held at College Park High School. Classes include the creative arts (drama, musical theater, jewelry, etc.), plus sports, culinary arts, and so much more.

Registration for both of these programs is on-going now! For STAGE - Repertory Summer Drama Workshop, call (925) 682-0896. For Recreation Summer School, download the Recreation Summer School mail-in registration form here. For Recreation Summer School questions, call (925) 937-7812; leave message.
