On the business development front, the Sports Commission, in partnership with the Daytona Convention and Visitors Bureau and Ocean Center, recently conducted a site visit with Linda Barclay, Managing Director of USA Sports Productions, to discuss potential events for Volusia County. We are happy to announce that the 23rd Annual National Judges Cup Championships will be coming to the Ocean Center on January 4-6, 2013. Hosted by the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges, this event could generate over 750+ room nights over the course of the weekend. Once all details are in place, we will be sure to share more information on this event.

As mentioned in last month's impact report, the Sports Commission recently sent representation to Colorado Springs, Colorado and Las Vegas, Nevada to network with national event organizers such as USA Gymnastics, USA Figure Skating, USA Karate, USA Diving, USA Volleyball, USA Water Polo and USA Fencing, just to name few. As a result of our meetings, several national and regional event opportunities for future years are being evaluated and researched for venues within Volusia County. Stay tuned on which opportunities pan out for venues within Volusia County!
