A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM BRENT

We hope this month's activity letter finds you well, as the Central Florida Sports Commission continues its extensive work to bring new and exciting sports related events and activities to Osceola County.

As the temperatures begin to cool and Fall approaches, the Sports Commission is gearing up for our "busy season" to begin. We kick-off November with our long-time partners at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), beginning with the NCCAA DII Men's and Women's Soccer Championships, November 9 - 12, and the NCCAA DII Volleyball Championships, November 10-12. They return to Osceola County November 30th to December 3rd for the DI Men's and Women's Soccer Championships and the DI Volleyball Championships; the soccer championships occur at Austin Tindall Regional Park and the volleyball championships at the Kissimmee Civic Center. We look forward to working with the NCCAA once again and continually grow this relationship.

Also in November is the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Girls Volleyball Championships; this event is held November 15 - 19 at Osceola Heritage Park's Silver Spurs Arena. This will be the first year Osceola County has hosted this event and will allow us to continue to grow our relationship with the FHSAA. We look forward to working with the Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau on making this experience a memorable one for the participants, coaches and spectators in attendance.

On the business development front, the Sports Commission had an active month continuing to reach out to event organizers, as well as attending several industry trade shows. Read about our recent activity below in this month's activity report.

Thank you for your continued support as we continue to market Osceola County as the "Amateur Sports Capital."

Best Regards,

Brent Nelson

Interim Executive Director

Central Florida Sports Commission

ECONOMIC IMPACT
IN THE PIPELINEI

The Sports Commission recently sent a representative to Colorado Springs, Colorado to network with national event organizers such as USA Karate, USA Taekwondo, USA Judo and USA Wrestling to name a few. Multiple national and regional event opportunities for future years are being evaluated for venues within Osceola County, so stay tuned as more information will come available in future impact reports.

In addition, the Sports Commission also sent staff to the TEAMS Conference held in Las Vegas in October. Hosted by SPORTSTRAVEL Magazine, the conference features an expo with event organizers seeking to partner with sports commissions and sports destinations to host future sports related events and meetings. We meet with over 30+ national event organizers, with the goal of identifying future opportunities for our community venues.

Also, the Sports Commission, in partnership with the Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau and Florida Amateur Wrestling Association, recently submitted a bid to host the 2012 & 2013 USA Wrestling Kids Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Championships at Osceola Heritage Park's Exhibition Hall. This event would take place June 26 - 28, 2012 and June 25 - 27, 2013 and could attract almost 2,000 participants and spectators from across the United States to Osceola County. We expect to hear something shortly from USA Wrestling, so stay tuned.

In other news, the Sports Commission recently learned that Osceola County has made the short list of potential host sites for the 2012 US Sports Congress. The Sports Commission and Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau recently submitted a proposal to host this annual meeting in Osceola County in December of 2012.   A site visit as been scheduled for mid/late October for event organizers to review our proposed venues. Keep your fingers crossed!

Xtreme Paintball Xperience - Zombie Adventure

Xtreme Paintball Xperience (XPX) is a theme park for paintball located off of South Poinciana Boulevard in Kissimmee, FL. It has some of the largest fields and best mix of paintball amenities in Central Florida, covering 30 acres of themed wood paintball fields, themed urban paintball fields and themed scenario games. We are currently working with XPX in prospecting various paintball events to bring to Osceola County, notably the National Professional Paintball League.

Every year starting in September, XPX unveils their Zombie Adventure, which is a two (2) hour haunted attraction played on all 30 acres of the park. If you ever wanted to experience a zombie movie, here is your chance. It gives you the opportunity to hunt down zombies, rescue survivors and SAVE THE WORLD! Gates are open from 6:30pm to 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and the first show begins after dark. The Zombie Adventure concludes on November 5th.
