This year's event will be on July 29th and 30th. Stuff, Knightro, Albert and 27 of their furry friends will battle in a series of wacky games to determine the ultimate champions of the mascot world.
Tickets are only $10 for general admission and $16 for a reserved seat. For special ticket offers and more information visit www.mascotgames.org. Click HERE and you can follow all of the craziness on our Facebook page.
Proceeds from the Celebrity Mascot Games benefit New Hope for Kids, an Orlando based not-for-profit organization. New Hope for Kids grants wishes to children under the age of 18 who are suffering from life-threatening illness and provides grief support for children who have lost a family member. In addition, since the first Mascot Games in 1992, this event raised nearly $300,000 for New Hope for Kids.

IN THE PIPELINE |
In working to bring in new sporting events for next year and beyond, the Sports Commission is taking an in-depth look at several Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) National Tournaments to be held in 2013. Multiple youth and adult events, both fast pitch and slow pitch, are up for bid for various dates throughout 2013. Multiple venues would be under consideration for potentially hosting these National Tournaments, ranging from the Ormond Beach Sports Complex to the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex. The bid deadline for us to submit a proposal is August 1st, so stay tuned.
In addition, the Sports Commission, in conjunction with the Daytona Beach Area CVB, recently conducted a site visit with ISOL Events with respect to developing a long term event partnership ISOL Events currently is working to provide venue and hotel assistance for several national event organizations, those being USA Volleyball, USA Team Handball, USA Fencing and USA Triathlon. They also have several other organizations targeted for future partnerships, including Ultimate Frisbee, National Softball Association and USA Archery. During our site visit, we were able to discuss the hotel options that reside in Volusia County, while setting up multiple site visits with sports venues in Volusia County including the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex and Ocean Center, just to name a few. Our discussions are still very preliminary, but we hope that they will lead to a long term partnership that finds us hosting multiple sports events and/or meetings on annualized basis. |

In an effort to attract more events to Volusia County, the Sports Commission, in conjunction with the Ocean Center and Daytona Beach Area CVB, are currently reviewing several RFP's for the opportunity to stage two (2) events at the Ocean Center next year. The 2012 USA Fencing World Cup and 2012 World Rope Skipping Championships are currently up for bid, with the Ocean Center being the primary venue under consideration based on the venue requirements. Each event would generate 1,000+ room nights for Volusia County, and attract athletes, coaches and spectators from across the United States (and even oversees) to Daytona Beach for multiple days of competition and vacationing. Bid deadlines for each are fast approaching, so we hope to be able to submit a proposal for these two (2) events in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
