The Games will feature 30 mascots from sports teams across the country competing in a variety of games during the three exciting shows.  Proceeds from the Celebrity Mascot Games benefit New Hope for Kids, an Orlando based not-for-profit organization.  Don't miss out - "Like" our Facebook Page for event and ticket giveaways.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM SAM

March is a great time to be a sports fan in Central Florida. The best golfers in the world are here for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, while the Orlando Predators are gearing up for their season at the Amway Center. They take on the Utah Blaze this Saturday night at 8pm. In addition, the Orlando Magic are in their stretch run to the NBA playoffs, while the Braves and Astros finish off their spring training season at Disney and the Osceola County Stadium, respectively.

And with March Madness in the air, we'd like to congratulate Embry-Riddle, Rollins, Stetson, and UCF on their post-season play.  The Eagles entered the 2011 Sun Conference tournament as the No. 2 seed and emerged as the conference tournament champion while the Tars advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament.  Both the Stetson women's basketball team and UCF women's backetball team earned a spot in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, while just this week the Knights men's team took home the victory over Rhode Island in the College Basketball Invitational.  The Sports Commission is working to bring NCAA tournament games back to Central Florida, so we'll keep posted on our success.

Looking ahead, the Sports Commission will be sending staff to the 2011 National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Sports Event Symposium in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 11 - 15.  This annual conference will provide a great opportunity for the Sports Commission to network with multiple event organizers and identify new event opportunities for hotels and sports venues within the Central Florida area.  We'll keep you posted on the outcome.

As you can see we've got a lot of great things going on at the Sports Commission, so so read about our recent and upcoming activity below.

Best Regards,

Soccer in Seminole
MS

US Club Soccer's Florida Cup made their way to Seminole County for the second time just a few weeks ago.  On March 5th and 6th, Sylvan Lake Park and the Seminole Soccer Complex served as the host venues for the 2011 Florida Cup.  This event drew approximately 80 youth soccer teams from across the State of Florida to Seminole County for two days of hard fought competition!  This event serves as evidence of a great partnership that is continuing to pay dividends, and we are looking forward to making US Club Soccer a permanent fixture within Seminole County for future years.
