A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM SAM

We hope this month's activity letter finds you well, as the Central Florida Sports Commission continues its extensive work to bring new and exciting sports related events and activities to Osceola County. We are pleased to announce that as a result of the Sports Commissions efforts, Osceola County was the beneficiary of more than $41 million in economic impact and 48,615 room nights. See below for the complete year end impact.

We would like to congratulate Kevin Ostrowski, Facility Superintendent at Austin-Tindall Park, for being inducted into the United States Flag and Touch Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at Austin-Tindall Park on January 15th, during the USFTL National Championships. Kevin has been a tremendous asset to Osceola County and the Sports Commission, and we are very pleased his hard work has been honored. Congratulations Kevin!

In December 2010, the American Youth Football and Cheer National Championships took place at Austin-Tindall Park and Osceola Heritage Park. These two events brought 141 football teams, 97 cheer teams (totaling more than 9,000 participants and coaches), and over 14,000 spectators to Osceola County throughout the week. This remarkable turnout resulted in the highest economic impact totals in its four-year tenure in Osceola County. Over $15 million in economic impact was generated for the community.

Thank you for your continued support as we continue to market Osceola County as the "Amateur Sports Capital."

Best Regards,
Sam Stark

ECONOMIC IMPACT
IN THE PIPELINEI

The CFSC recently sent staff to the NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas from January 11 - 14, 2011.  This convention provided the Sports Commission the opportunity to network with college administrators, coaches and event partners to promote Osceola County as a destination for future sports events, conferences and meetings. During the convention, we had a chance to discuss future event and/or team training opportunities with the Sunshine State Conference, Horizon League, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and Great Northeast Athletic Conference, just to name a few.

On the heels of the NCAA Convention, the Sports Commission is researching the possibility of attending the 2011 NACDA Convention (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) which will be held at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando this coming June.   This conference brings together collegiate athletic directors and other administrative staff & coaches from across the United States for educational and networking seminars and meetings.  This convention might provide the Sports Commission and our partners the opportunity to showcase our venues for future event and team training opportunities.  We hope to make a decision on whether to attend the convention within the next month, so stay tuned.
