A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM SAM

It's hard to believe that the end of 2010 is near.  It's been a great year at the Sports Commission.  Looking back, the year included a number of notable firsts worth mentioning: the development of the Sports Club, the first annual Bright House Sports Network Breakfast of Champions, Acrobatic Gymnastics in Osceola County, the FHSAA State Softball Championships in Lake County, the Hall of Fame Ceremony at the Amway Center, and the Elite Club National League Soccer tournament in Seminole County.  We're excited about 2011, and look forward to sharing another great year in sports with you!

Coming in January, the CFSC will be sending staff to the NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas. This convention will provide the Sports Commission the opportunity to network with college administrators, coaches and event partners to help promote Central Florida as a destination for future events and team training opportunities. We'll keep you posted on all the great things we gather from the convention!

In addition, we're currently reviewing RFP's from the Florida High School Athletic Association that were recently released in November. In all, over 12 State Finals are up for bid, starting in the fall of 2011.  Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys Wrestling, Football, Boys and Girls Swimming & Diving, Boys & Girls Golf, Boys & Girls Lacrosse and Boys & Girls Water Polo are a few of the State Finals under consideration for venues within Central Florida.  Bids are due to the FHSAA by early January, so stay tuned as more information will come available in the coming weeks.

Happy Holidays!

Best Regards,
Sam Stark
