TAG UP for Youth and Sports in Florida.

Purchase a professional sports license plate and be a supporter of sports in Florida. The Central Florida Sports Commission and each of Florida's nine professional sports teams encourage you to purchase the specialty sports tag of your choice. Show pride in your favorite Florida team while providing support to youth charities and Florida's communities.  Proceeds from the additional $25 tag fee directly support each team's designated youth charity and the development of major and regional sports events throughout Florida. Each year the tag program generates over $250,000 for local youth charities and supports major and regional sports events throughout Florida's communities. Click HERE for more information.

The first trip was to Denver, where we accompanied other community leaders on the EDC Leadership Mission.   The goal of this trip was to meet with business leaders in Denver and discuss and share best practices on how to increase economic development through sports events and improved infrastructure.

The second trip was to the USA Wrestling State Leaders Summit in Colorado Springs.  The goal was to meet with officials from USA Wrestling to discuss our venues for potential event opportunities.  Venues under consideration for future international, national and regional events include the Amway Center, Orange County Convention Center and UCF Arena.

The Sports Commission, in conjunction with the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau (OOCVB), recently forwarded a proposal to host the 2015 or 2016 USA Track & Field Annual Meetings.   The conference would take place in early December, and would attract approximately 1,500 attendees to our community for several days of meetings.  Should we make the final list, the Sports Commission and OOCVB will travel to Virginia Beach, VA in early December to give a presentation to the USA Track & Field selection committee.

Other event opportunities being evaluated include USA Volleyball Club Nationals, Florida High School Athletic Association Girls Weightlifting Championships and North American Chinese Basketball Association National Tournament; just to name a few.
