We hope this month's activity letter finds you well, as the Central Florida Sports Commission continues its extensive work to bring new and exciting sports related events and activities to Osceola County. The Central Florida Sports Commission and Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the World Baseball Federation will host their Fall Opener at the Osceola County Stadium. This event will take place September 10th-12th and will bring in some of the biggest youth baseball stars from around the area. The World Baseball Federation specializes in running top-level tournaments for ages 18 (and up), 16 (and up), and as young as 9 (and up). In addition to these top tournaments, The World Baseball Federation invites High School and College programs to participate in their spring training events each year. Recently the Sports Commission put in a bid to host the 2012 USA Gymnastics Level 7 & 8 Regional National Championships as well as the 2013 USA Gymnastics PREP Opt Regional's. If awarded these events would collectively bring in over 3,000 athletes and spectators to the Kissimmee area. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to market Osceola County as the "Amateur Sports Capital." |

IN THE PIPELINE |
On the business development front, the Sports Commission has recently been in discussions with the Florida Community College Activities Association to host their State Volleyball Tournament in 2012 - 2014. If awarded this two day event would bring in the top 4 qualifying teams in the Atlantic district and the top 4 qualifying team from the Gulf district to the Kissimmee Civic Center. The winners of the district tournaments will play each other for the State Championship. In addition, the Sports Commission is looking into hosting a number of youth football league tournaments and potentially a couple of UCA Cheer Competitions. Just recently the Sports Commission received a bid packet for USA Wrestling's 2012 Olympic Team Trials. The projected event dates would be April 19 - 21, 2012 and, if awarded, would be held at OHP's Silver Spurs Arena. This event would be televised both domestically and internationally, and would showcase athletes from countries such as the United States, Canada and Cuba. If awarded, this prestigious event would attract over 1,200 athletes, coaches, administrators and spectators to the Silver Spurs Arena for two days of unprecedented competition. We hope to have an exciting update for you in the upcoming months.

| COMMUNITY PROFILE |
Osceola County Stadium In 1985 the Osceola County Stadium became the Spring Training home of the Houston Astros when they relocated from Cocoa Beach to Kissimmee. The Stadium is also the international headquarters for the United States Specialty Sports Association. Numerous other baseball and softball events are hosted annually at the facility including: youth instructional camps, umpire schools, adult fantasy camps, amateur tournaments, commercial shoots, and corporate functions.
Osceola County Stadium has even hosted concerts dating back to the first one in 1986 when Jerry Reed and Reba McEntire shared a stage. The Four Seasons followed that performance in 1987 and other performances from Exile, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Sawyer Brown. The modern, fan-friendly facility sits on part of the 120-acre Osceola Heritage Park Complex and features 5,300 chair-back seats, major and minor league clubhouses, seven concession stands, four luxurious suites, and a fan-friendly "Autograph Alley" area where you can get up close and personal with your favorite athlete. |
