A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM SAM | The Sports Commission has been hard at work this past month developing new event opportunities for Seminole County for 2011 and beyond, while remaining focused on retaining key event partners that have produced tangible results for our tourism community! First, the Sports Commission is the late stages of finishing our proposal to stage the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Men's & Women's Tennis Championship. This event would be staged at Sanlando Park, and would attract 16 tennis teams from across the State of Florida to Altamonte Springs. Among the schools that would participate include the University of Tampa, Florida Southern and Barry University. Next, the Sports Commission, in conjunction with the Seminole County CVB, is working with local organizers to assist in the creation of the Orlando Cup Soccer Tournament. This event, still in the initial planning stages, is slated to be held at Sylvan Lake Park and the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford in April of 2011. This first year event aims to draw elite youth soccer teams from throughout the United States, as well as international clubs, to Seminole County for multiple days of competition. We hope to share more details on this exciting event opportunity as it comes available. Additional business development updates are included within this month's newsletter, which include our reaching out to several existing partners and our partnership with the Seminole CVB in securing an important piece of sports business for over the holiday break this December. Read about each opportunity, and more, below in the impact report. As always, please do not hesitate to call should you have any questions and we look forward to partnering with TEAM SEMINOLE to generate more great sports activity in Seminole County.

| IN THE PIPELINE |
USA Rugby, an event partner of the Sports Commission since 2000, has recently released their Request for Proposal (RFP) to interested hosts for the opportunity to stage one or more of their national events in 2011. The CFSC is currently reviewing the contents of the RFP to determine which events will best fit our community. You might recall the Sports Commission hosted the Men's & Women's Collegiate Division I and II Playoffs at the Seminole Soccer Club in May of this year. 40 teams from across the United States were in attendance this year, however USA Rugby has elected to increase the number of host venues for the Collegiate Playoffs in 2011. If chosen to host the Collegiate Playoffs next year, it's more likely that no more than 32 teams would be in attendance. We hope to share more information with you in next month's impact report. In addition, the CFSC has also begun working with HOF Baseball to once again stage their high school baseball tournament here in Seminole County in spring of 2011. This past spring teams from all across the United States converged on the diamonds of Seminole County for 3 days of competition. Approximately 700 room nights were generated in Seminole County earlier this year. |

| COMMUNITY PROFILE |
Former star at Lake Mary Prep, Lion Kim, is the newly crowned US Amateur Public Links Champion. This past month in Greensboro North Carolina, Kim fought him way back late in the tournament to beat fellow competitor David McDaniel. This national tournament, staged by the United States Golf Association, was plagued by poor weather forcing the golfers to scramble to keep their game on track. When asked about the weather in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Kim said "We were tired and it'd already been a long week, the bad weather just made it even longer." This win guarantees Lion with a spot in the 2011 Masters Tournament which is staged annually in Augusta, Georgia. Congratulations to Lion Kim, and we look forward to seeing him at the Masters next spring!
