A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM SAM
|
Happy New Year from the Central Florida Sports Commission! As you can see, the sports commission has a new look! We are pleased to share our new logo, new email and new way of sharing important information with you. We continue to make changes to stay ahead of the game and we welcome your input. In addition to these cosmetic changes, Orange County will once again host an exciting year of sports activity starting with the 85th Annual East-West Shrine Game. The game will be hosted at the Florida Citrus Bowl on January 23rd at 3pm. The East-West Shrine Game is the oldest college all-star game in the country and features the finest student athletes in the U.S. and Canada. This marks the first time that the City of Orlando has been selected as the host community for this prestigious event. As we look ahead towards this spring, the Sports Commission is gearing up for hosting two (2) State Championships with the Florida High School Athletic Association, those being the Boys and Girls Water Polo Championships and Girls Lacrosse Championships. More information on each will be provided in future newsletters. Thank you for your continued support, as we continue to market Orange County as the "Ultimate Sports Destination".

| COMMUNITY PROFILE |
Its official...the City of Orlando community has embraced the new professional lacrosse team...the Orlando Titans! On Friday, January 8th more than 8,000 fans cheered on the Orlando Titans at their season opener and victory against the Philadelphia Wings. Among the crowd were numerous local high school lacrosse teams, including Lake Brantley and Winter Park High School. The Titans have played in New York City for the past three years with Madison Square Garden serving as their home venue; however due to scheduling conflicts the Titans were always playing on the road. This past Friday night marked the first time the team felt like they had a real home, which was all based off the outpouring of community support! We hope that you will support Orlando's newest professional franchise, and to get into the action please visit www.orlandotitans.com.
