August, 2011

I love the dog days of summer - the origins of the expression tracing back to Ancient Egypt and Rome where the 'dog star' named Sirius was the brightest one in the sky.  It was thought to add its heat to the sun, causing hot summer days with little rain.

How are our 'dog days'? Busy... it is the season for outdoor festivals from state fairs to poolside BBQ's to creative gatherings like our Farm to City courtyard dinner this week.

On the farm, after one of the most challenging starts, the season is in full swing as we are harvesting our first corn crop ever.

Join us at the table, in the market or at the farm as we celebrate the season and celebrate life.
