One of the most influential recent books on strategic
thinking is Blue Ocean Strategy by Chan Kim and
Renee Mauborgne. It argues that companies should
not fight in the bloody 'red oceans' of overcrowded
competition but they should create 'blue oceans' of
uncontested market space.
I have now expanded my Strategy Workshop to
incorporate some of the best techniques in Blue
Ocean Strategy and combine them with other creative
thinking approaches to corporate planning. This
workshop enables top teams in organisations to
shape a better future using practical, interactive
methods.

Bill Gates recently said, 'We are in an economic
downturn but an innovation upturn.' Most people are
focusing on the downturn and the dangers it poses
rather than on the opportunity for innovation. Most
businesses are restructuring and streamlining their
operations. How can you maximize your chances in
the change maelstrom? One way is to take a positive
approach to change and to be seen as an innovative
go-getter who will help make the re-organization a
success.
This article contains seven pieces of advice to help
you become an effective change agent.

My new puzzle book, Captivating Lateral Thinking
Puzzles, co-authored with Des MacHale is now out. It
is packed with new brain-teasers and strange
conundrums. It is available from Amazon, your local
bookstore or (if you want a signed copy) from my
webstore.
It is puzzling that a book as entertaining as this is
available at such a remarkably low price.
