WGC in the News

The year was 2000, and a friend encouraged Linda Odum and two other women to attend a meeting about philanthropy in Baltimore. The event proved to be the catalyst for the founding of a new organization in Howard County: the WGC -

Dear WGC Donors and Friends,

Fall is in full swing and we've been busy!

Many thanks to those of you who attended the September 13 City Gives event. It was a wonderful night honoring two women who have made a difference in our community, and a night to toast philanthropy.  It was also a huge fundraiser for the WGC. Thank you to The Mall in Columbia for bringing the City Gives national philanthropic event to Howard County and partnering with us.

Our Journey Camp also honored four amazing women role models several weeks ago. We are proud to continue to elevate and highlight the philanthropic and leadership accomplishments of women in our county - it's so important to do this so we can continue to encourage the growth and empowerment of women philanthropists for generations to come.

Speaking of empowerment, I hope you have a chance to attend one of the Mean Girls Workshops taking place in October and November.  We are proud to co-sponsor these important conversations.

We have a lot going on and many ways to connect.  Won't you join us?

First 'City Gives' Event a Smashing Success!

Thank you to The Mall in Columbia for hosting CITY GIVES! A fundraiser than benefited the WGC. We honored two women who embrace the vision of the WGC, enhance the community with their philanthropy and enrich our legacy of leadership.  We also raised over $7,500! Thanks to all who attended! Read more and view pictures from the event

Journey Tea Honors Local Women

Journey Tea 2012
As they have in past years, delegates who attended Journey, the summer camp for middle school girls founded by the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, hosted a tea in late August to honor four local women role models this past weekend. This year's honorees include Joan Athen, Ethel Hill, Becky Lessey and Linda Odum! All four women are members of the Howard County Women's Hall of Fame.

Thank You to our 2012 eNewsletter &  Website Sponsor!
