Great Start for the Young Women's Giving Circle !

 The 2011/2012 Young Women's Giving Circle (YWGC) class met for the first time this month to plan for their year of leading and learning about philanthropy and civic engagement.   Read about it!

In recognition of the critical issues facing young women, The Women's Giving Circle of Howard County endorsed the campaign to establish a Day of the Girl to raise awareness and influence decision-makers about addressing gender-based discrimination - Ellicott City Patch, September 20, 2011

The Women's Giving Circle of Howard County and the Howard County Library presented the film "Cover Girl Culture: Awakening the Media Generation" on Wednesday, October 12, from 7-9 p.m.

Last month we announced our 2011 Grants. Did you know that the WGC also funds scholarships for women

And, while the 2012 WGC Circle Team is in full planning mode. Join us on 11/3 for a Kickoff event.

WGC's Journey Girls Make Awards to Local Women

Delegates to Journey Camp 2011 recently honored four local professional and civic leaders and philanthropists at an awards reception Sept. 11.  

WGC Funds Scholarships for Women in 2011

The Women's Giving Circle of Howard County has awarded $2,500 of its 2011 grants budget to a scholarship fund it established at Howard Community College to provide assistance to women taking job-related courses.

WGC's 2011 Journey Camp Update

Journey 2011
Journey, the Women's Giving Circle's signature program for girls, has found its ideal size and make-up, according to Journey 2011 Director Kea McKoy.  
 
The program's mission - to provide an experience in which delegates explore issues of identity and community and build their confidence and interpersonal skills - has remained unchanged, although the components of the experience have evolved.
