Recently, Grace Groner, a Illinois secretary, surprised her alma mater by leaving the school $7-million in her will.  Gifts through wills have become an integral part of our philanthropic tradition, because such gifts enable a person to make significant contributions that may not have been possible during life. Each year thousands of individuals designate a portion of their assets to the benefit and support of their favorite charitable organization.

Support the WGC through community events...
On Monday, May 3rd, enjoy Conscious Corner Women's Night at the Great Sage Restaurant in Clarksville.  The evening will feature guest speaker, Cara Michele Nether on "Celebrate the heart in you!" and food from Roots Market, Great Sage and Sticky Fingers Bakery.  The evening begins at 6pm and tickets are $10.  10% of bar sales will be donated to the WGC.

Coreworks Fitness Studio is currently running a Spring Wellness Seminar Series to raise
STEM
money for the WGC.  This series of 15 speakers will conduct hour long sessions on a variety of health and wellness topics.  All proceeds will go to the WGC.  Click here for details.


On Saturday, May 1st from 5-8pm, Stretchalicious, an exciting and unique womens activewear retail clothing store, and Between the Lines Medispa, will be hosting a Ladies Happy Hour during which a portion of proceeds will go to the WGC. Stretchalicious features fashionable and functional active wear to take you from day to night. The store is located at 10040 Baltimore National Pike, E-120, Ellicott City. Clickhere for additional details about upcoming events.

WGC Circle Team
The WGC Circle Team kicked off their training session on Saturday with a cold but exciting run around the Iron Girl 2010 route at Centennial Lake.  This year's team is made up of over 50 women who will be competing icircleteamrunn the 2010 Iron Girl or Columbia Triathlon. Many women will be competing for the very first time! 

All Circle Team members will be raising funds for the WGC. We invite you to support this amazing group of women by making a donation to the team.

June 30th - Movie & Discussion, "Nana, Mom & Me," 7pm at the Miller Branch Library.  Join us for a viewing and discussion of this documentary film examining generational relationships within a family.

WGC Response Network
On April 14th, the WGC Response Network sent out at request for assistance from the Domestic Violence Center.  In order to support her two children, this DVC client was seeking to advance her career opportunities by enrolling in a Certified Nursing Assistant program.  Within hours, donors like you provided $470 to help this woman in need.  Thank you again for pooling your dollars to make a difference.

I still marvel every time I see these emails.  How wonderful that in less than 4 hours' time WGC has helped a woman in an awfully stressful predicament.  It's sooo wonderful-truly.
