WGC 2009 Annual Meeting & Social - Powerful!
March 18, 2009 - Thank you to all who attended The Women's Giving Circle's 2009 Annual Meeting & Social on March 18. It was a truly amazing and inspiring event that had over 160 women gathered at Howard Community College to hear about the contributions the Women's Giving Circle made in 2009, and a fascinating talk by Keynote Speaker, Rosalind Wiseman.
Rosalind led a dynamic discussion around her book, Queen Bees & Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends & Other Realities of Adolescence. Her book sold out at the event!
Here is a sampling of the enthusiastic feedback we have received thus far:
- "The Women's Giving Circle is on course to be a local force in changing the lives of girls in the 'self actualization' category." - "I want to get more involved!" - "It was easily the best speaker event that I have been to in a while. - What an incredible group of women - I'm proud to be a member. We can be the ones to combat the message of the media and make a difference for the girls in our community. - There is nothing better than women and girls helping other women and girls in this tough economy.
We hope you will take a look at some of the materials distributed at the Annual Meeting: Annual Meeting Program, 2008 Annual Report, and WGC's "Highlights" Publication.
You could feel the energy in the room! It was powerful to witness women uniting to share their voices and ideas with each other and for the benefit of women and girls in our community. Let's carry this energy into the future and continue the WGC's work in making a real local impact! |
