Thanksgiving Dinner |
| As part of our mission to raise awareness of gender disparities, and promote self-sufficiency, the WGC is hosting our 4th annual Healthy Families Thanksgiving Dinner on 11/25. Healthy Families helps first-time parents from the birth of a new baby through infancy, toddlerhood and early childhood. Parenting is the most classic of gender issues, and attendees are primarily mothers (and their mothers) and their children. The WGC has given a Micro Grant of $1,000 for Healthy Families participants and their families to enjoy a holiday gathering. WGC donors serve the meal. Thank you to our sponsors: The Rouse Company Foundation and United Way Community Partnerships of Howard County, Putting on the Ritz and David's Natural Food Market! |

In the summer of 2008, the camp was expanded, and 57 rising 8th-12th grade girls took a journey of self-discovery and examined what it means to be a woman in today's world. The girls came from every corner of Howard County and were racially, ethnically and economically diverse. WGC's signature program, Journey arose out of a multi-year focus on adolescent girls. |
