WGC Accomplishments January - June 2008

The Women's Giving Circle is building a community of philanthropists and creating a permanent legacy to address the needs of women and girls in Howard County. 
 
The WGC is pursuing its mission by seeking specific results in six strategic areas: 

WGC is Expanding Philanthropy and Increasing Giving by Local Women  

WGC is Continuing to Build a Permanent Endowment Fund  
 
WGC is Working to Increase the Life Skills of Women and Girls  

WGC is Encouraging the Healthy Development and Personal Authority of Young Girls  

WGC is Raising the Awareness of Gender Disparities in our Community  

WGC is Working to Sustain the WGC for Future Generations

Journey Girls  
It's been a very busy year so far, and we've got a lot of great things going on.  We hope you have had a chance to keep abreast of WGC efforts on our updated WGC Website, through the WGC eNewsletter, and from our communication by mail.   Read about the WGC's accomplishments to date in 2008. 
 
Do you know someone taking part in the August 24 Iron Girl Triathlon in Columbia?  Let them know they can support the WGC at the same time through the WGC's Circle Team!  Interested in the Iron Girl but didn't sign up this year?  Take part in the festivities and volunteer for the WGC's Circle Team.  Contact Maura Dunnigan with questions and for more information.
 
And, mark your calendars! The 2009 WGC Annual Meeting will be on March 18, 4:30 pm. 
WGC Donor Profile:  Missy Mattey, WGC Resource Development Committee Chair
Journey GirlsMissy Mattey is the Executive Director of the Howard Community College Educational Foundation and the Director of Development for the college. She is currently involved in the Columbia Rotary Club and the Voices for Children board. She has a B.A. in sociology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a M.A. in nonprofit management from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.  
 
Why is Missy involved with the WGC? 
 
"As a fundraiser I am aware of how important it is to be involved in your community. I enjoy knowing that by giving back through my involvement with the WGC I can make a difference in someone's life."
WGC Leadership
Each year we send an inquiry to WGC donors via the eNewsletter asking for interested parties to contact us if they would like to be considered for a leadership position on the WGC Advisory Board.  Please contact WGC Leadership Committee Chair Linda Odum if you are interested in being considered in the future.
