A Venezuelan woman who is a talented viola player arrived in Howard County on a full scholarship with her husband and toddler. Her husband was extremely controlling, so she worked and found a low income apartment in Howard County that enabled her to take her toddler and leave her husband.

When she moved, her husband kept all the furniture, as she wasn't "allowed" to take anything, including her toddler's crib.  The only belongings she and her child now have are their clothes, her viola, and kitchen appliances.
