Donate Your Rebate - Invest in the Community - Make it Count!

May 2008

Dear WGC Donors & Friends,

As you consider how to spend your upcoming tax stimulus rebate check, why not make an investment that will have a lasting difference for women and girls in Howard County?

In our community ...

  • Girls are exposed everyday to the messages of mass culture that erode their self-image and value systems.  The WGC created and funds a camp for middle and high school aged girls to take them on a journey of self-discovery and to examine what it is to be a woman in today's world.
  • There are women who dream of becoming economically self-sufficient but have no means to improve their situation.  The WGC provides scholarships for women students who are taking courses at Howard Community College in order to improve their career possibilities.
  • There are challenges we have yet to face. The WGC is building an endowment that ensures that the issues facing women and girls in Howard County will be addressed in perpetuity.
  • The economy is on the brink of recession and women and girls in our community are struggling to keep their heads above water.  The WGC funds emergency grants to local nonprofits and operates The Response Network for the most immediate of needs.
When we invest in each other we bring the power to women and girls to change the economic future of our country.

Please consider donating your rebate today - stimulating the future for women and girls and stimulating our economy - and making your rebate count!

Sincerely,

The WGC Advisory Board
