The WGC's Response Network

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Now is a great time to consider volunteering to work with the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County's legal advocate coordinator to help clients petition the courts for protective orders.

Training is offered, and legal experience is not required.

Child care providers are also needed as well as volunteers to staff a help line and to assist at events.

WGC in the News: "Giving Circles, a National Trend, Prove Popular Here in Maryland"
Across the country, groups of friends who are getting together and giving together are changing the landscape of philanthropy ... nearly 12,000 people are members of giving circles - charitable groups where members pool their donations and decide collectively how to use them to benefit causes they care about - The Business Monthly, September 2007

WGC's "Circle Team" a Success!

The WGC's Circle Team - Iron Girl Triathlon
Swimming, Biking, Running ... Inspiring, Giving!

The WGC's Circle Team at this year's Iron Girl Triathlon in Columbia was a huge success!   Twenty two team racers inspired over $3,000 in contributions that will be matched by another $3,000 from the Columbia Triathlon Association!

The WGC Circle Team's motto of "Swimming, Biking, Running, Inspiring, Giving" was felt throughout the race, as the racers proudly wore their WGC racing shirts.  A special thanks goes to WGC donor Maura Dunnigan, who
was profiled on Fox45 TV and on the Iron Girl website regarding the WGC Circle Team's efforts.

Congratulations to the WGC Circle Team for a terrific race and for not only raising $6,000 for the WGC, but for raising awareness of the importance of giving by strong women!
