June 2007
Dear WGC Donors & Friends,

Grassroots is requesting $800 for a security deposit for a woman and her three children, ages 17, 16 and 8.

The security deposit is $1,000 and Grassroots will utilize $200 from a 2007 Emergency Grant from the Women's Giving Circle.  This woman receives child support for one of the children and has an income of $604 from Temporary Cash Assistance (Dept. of Social Services). The family has a Section 8 voucher and housing arranged in Anne Arundel County. She has chosen to leave Howard County for safety reasons. She left a domestic violence situation and her abuser is in jail. He will be getting out of jail in July. Her 17 year old daughter has been assaulted by another girl and a court case is pending. Both feel unsafe here.

This woman's father died and she has been taking care of her mother who has cancer. She has been unable to work due to depression and is in treatment. She was hospitalized for a suicide attempt in March. She is hoping to go back to work in the next couple of months. She has received assistance for first month's rent but needs the security deposit of $1,000. Her move-in date is July 1. This family would be very grateful for assistance in obtaining this living situation.

Please contact Arlene Sheff if you can assist this woman and her family.  arlenehs@comcast.net
