| Dear WGC Donors & Friends, |

A woman who is a political asylee from
Colombia, who moved here in 2005 with her husband and one of their daughters, is in need of $1,000.
Unfortunately, this woman's husband is currently receiving Hospice Care, and has been given two or three months to live. This woman is working and making minimum wage and her daughter has just graduated from highschool and is staying at home to take care of her father so that this woman can work more hours. Their rent at in Elkridge is $1,250 a month and the family can only afford a portion of this.
FIRN is cooperating closely with other local agencies to assist this family. The Community Action Council has paid rent for the month of June and the Cancer Support Foundation is taking care of the utilities bills and some other expenses. However, the family cannot pay rent for July.
As soon as this woman's husband passes away, she and her daughter will move to a less expensive apartment but they cannot do this yet as he is very sick and they do not want to move him. FIRN will continue to help the family apply for housing, obtain food from the Food Bank, and search for better-paying jobs.
FIRN is requesting $1,000 for July's rent, and believes that this will assist the family to stabilize after the tragic death of this woman's husband.
Thank you for your consideration. |
