HOW TO FIND US
Quality Quilting is conveniently located just southwest of the

I-94/State Street interchange at 625 State Circle (the turn for State Circle is at the Citgo Gas Station, on the west side of State, just south of the interstate).  Once you turn, the store is down on the right, just beyond the Scrap Box (which is on the left).  It is an unexpected quilting oasis just a little off the beaten path.   Our phone number is (734) 929-5169.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL GROUP SEWING
Would you like to sew in a friendly "bee-like" setting and meet new quilting buddies?  Informal times and dates have been made.
FRIDAY MORNING OPEN SEW
is a good time to work on a project - hand sewing, hand quilting, embroidery, sewing down a binding, hand applique, even knitting.  Come between 10:00 am and noon-ish every Friday morning (no sewing machines, please).

So far, there are 3-4 of us almost every week...we'd love some more company!  There is no charge to come and meet new people who share your passion for quilting projects.  Please bring "show-and-tell's," if you have one!  No need to call and reserve a seat - just come!

Do you like to do Redwork?

REDWORK BUNCH
will meet again THIS Sunday afternoon, May 20!!  We have fun laughing, talking, and stitching.  So far, we are all working on our own projects, but there is talk of doing a stitching block-of-the-month...

This informal group will meet once a month, 10 months out of the year.  The next dates will be June 10, August 12, Sept 9, Oct 14, and Nov 11.

JOURNEY TO THE PAST...SHOP HOP

We have really enjoyed all the excitement about our shop quilt for the JOURNEY TO THE PAST Shop Hop.

Don't let the applique scare you...we designed it to be easy.

JOURNEY TO THE PAST
, our inaugural shop hop, will happen on Friday (9-7 PM) and Saturday (9-5 PM), July 20 and 21.  Your "ticket fare" (passport) for this adventure is only $5.00 and your "trip" will take you to four fabulous Quilt Shop destinations:
  • EVERLASTING STITCHES, Holt, MI
  • HEN HOUSE, Charlotte, MI
  • JENNIFER'S QUILT SHOP, Pinckney, MI
  • QUALITY QUILTING, Ann Arbor, MI

You will be collecting a set of 3 block patterns/kits at each location, featuring Jo Morton reproduction fabrics.

Even if you aren't a fan of reproduction fabrics, we still think you are going to LOVE these blocks...3 from each shop for a total of 12.  They are elaborate looking but easy to piece.

Each shop is making an original setting of the 12 blocks, and you can reserve a finishing kit for the quilt you prefer, or go your own way and come up with your own creation using the blocks you collect along the way.

Seriously...don't let the applique center and middle border scare you...they are easily done with ANY applique method (Mary used machine applique for our sample).  Teresa will be offering a Lunch Lesson in mid June that will be an overview of applique methods, for the faint of heart.  This will help you find the right method for YOU!

Sign up and get your passport today!

You can sign up now to reserve a finishing kit for our shop quilt...we will have the price in next week's newsletter
"MUST-HAVE" PRODUCTS AND PROJECTS
This is "Ashcombe"...it is simply luscious in "Friendship" by Moda.  Rather than make kits, we've cut lots of fat quarters for you to pick and choose from following our quilt recipe and the purchased pattern.

We have had a little trouble restocking this popular, versatile pattern, but our distributor assures us that we will have more patterns soon, soon, soon!

It is a great patttern for showcasing a particular line of fabric, like this "Friendship" line from Moda Fabrics.  But it would also be a great pattern for using up scraps...FAST!

We still have some of the new jelly rolls in "all white" KONA cotton and "a spectrum of neutrals" KONA COTTON.  These can be used in so many projects where cutting neutral 2.5 inch strips (boring!) is required.

These neutral jelly rolls will make strip tubing...and many other quilt projects...a BREEZE!

This "little kid" pattern is sure to be a real kid pleaser!  Kim whipped this one up.

It fits on a standard-size card table and turns the ordinary piece of furniture into an extradinary make-believe world!  It has windows, curtains...even a mail box where letters can be sent or received!

More patterns will be in on Thursday!

Nice, new, neutral shirtings from Jo Morton and Blue Hill...fat quarters and yardage are waiting for you!

She's back!!  Yes, the QUILT DIVA is in the house...the great Amy Bradley pattern comes with a button you can sport when shopping at your favorite quilt stores.  This will GUARANTEE you are treated like the Quilt Diva you are!  If you've never used an Amy Bradley pattern, they are the most user-friendly applique patterns EVER!

We have a couple more panels to make this particular "Fab 5" quilt.  This great booklet quilt is so fast to make with a focus fabric and a handful of fat quarters.

On Saturday, May 26, Rhonda will be offering a "class deal" - buy your fabrics and the "Fab 5" booklet at Quality Quilting, and your class with Rhonda to learn how to make this quilt is FREE!  Email to sign up!

We have ONE more kit to make "Urban Cabins" (the quilt on the right).  In addition, when you purchase the kit, there is a free pattern for the quilt on the left, which can be made from the leftovers of the "Urban Cabins" quilt on the right.  Now that's what I call a "two-fer"...two quilts "fer" one kit price!

If you like a "little" company in the kitchen, check out these nifty aprons for your "little" helpers!

We have ONE more "Out of the Blue" quilt kit featuring a space theme and TWO featuring fish...fabric that REALLY works in 3-D!!!  (and we give you the 3-D glasses to prove it!!)

Look at all these cute, clever pin cushions Mary made from just one "Papillon" Charm Pack!!

UPCOMING LUNCH LESSONS...

"LUNCH LESSONS" are off to a great start!  These are a series of demonstrations designed to teach some basic quilting skills and increase your quilting knowledge and confidence on a variety of topics and techniques.

Some lessons will be offered twice a week, some only once.  Most will be from 12 noon to 1, sometimes slightly different by a few minutes depending on store and teacher schedules.  Check the newsletter for the exact time of each specific offering.

The cost will be $5 per class and each one will last an hour or less...bring cash, pay in the classroom, and avoid the cash register rush.

Feel free to bring your lunch to munch while you sit and absorb quilting knowledge.  Space is limited to 16 people, so we are asking you to EMAIL or COME BY to sign up so we can reserve your seat.

The next scheduled LUNCH LESSONS will be (see details below):

Just like molecules make up our bodies and the world around us, basic constructed units and motifs make up our quilts.

Some quilts are made up of LOTS of these units, especially HST'S (half square triangles) and flying geese.

There are a lot of ways to make these basic building blocks, and Marilyn has some tricks for making HST'S & FLYING GEESE - VARIOUS METHODS
